The color looks amazing on its own or mixed with white sand, creating a very natural aesthetic. It barely needed any rinsing, which made setup quick and easy. I paired it with a biosubstrate, and the combo worked beautifully. It was easy to set up. Great value! Read more

Still needs rinsing, but cleaner than most. Love the grain size of this sand. Easy to vacuum substrate. Doesn’t clog filter or siphon. Beautiful natural look in aquarium. Read more

If you're looking for a natural gravel-sand, this is it. The color looks great blended with white sand or all by itself. It needed ZERO cleaning. ZERO. I've added it to mature tanks spreading it around with my hand and having no dust come into the water column. I've set up new tanks with it and again had no cloudiness while filling up the tank. I've found with this brand, the substrate doesn't usually need cleaning. That's a 5star win in my book. Read more

Some of the bast sand I have seen! Its the same price or a little more than local shops but wherever you buy it its a good deal! Very clean. I just dumped it right in and it barely clouded the water. Read more

This is really coarse for sand, which is what I was looking for. I mean like 10x more coarse than pool filter sand or the like. I had been using pool filter sand and or pea gravel for planted tanks for quite awhile when someone suggested using this as an in between and that really is what this is. This sand is coarse enough to plant in easily but fine enough to hold the roots. I thin for many people they might even like to go up to the gravel size that is like 2mm, which is still way finer than what you get sold as pea gravel in home improvement stores. I will say that you get a nice natural look too and while it doesn't require rinsing I'd still suggest it or do a 100% water change once as there is a little dust that settles. However, way cleaner than other options. Anyway, if you are looking for an extra coarse sand or really, really fine gravel replacement that looks natural then this might be the way to go. Read more
