Beautiful. Very sturdy, heavy, well-made. Outstanding customer service.

I love everything about this product. First, the aesthetics - it is beautifully designed in an old Japanese style. It fits perfectly with my Asian decor and Japanese soaking tub. Second, the quality. This bench is very sturdy and I expect will last for years. It weighs 16 pounds, assembled. Thick teak legs, top and crossbar. No marks or defects on the surface anywhere. Nice color wood that looks a little aged, but has a bright new patina. Third, the details. Designed for good water runoff which will add to the product life. There are large rubber pads on the bottom of the legs, so you can make adjustments if needed to level it. Nice touch. The screws are in recessed holes so you can’t see them after assembly. Again, a nice detail. 4th, easy assembly. Took me less than 15 mins. Clear instructions. Only six screws to screw in. 5th, Good value. It lists for $149, but occasionally goes on sale for $108. That’s a great price for a high-quality item. 6th, outstanding customer service. There was a minor problem on one leg, which I would not call a defect - just something that might affect its durability. As shown in my last picture, one of the holes on one leg happened to fall exactly on a crack between 2 boards on the leg. I wondered if that might cause the leg to split apart a little after years of service and exposure to water. When I called the company, they were very understanding and readily agreed to send a replacement part. They sent it out promptly the next day. So that makes it perfect. Also, notably, my call was months beyond the return period and they did not make that an issue. They didn’t have to do anything, but customer service is a big priority for this company, so they put the customer first. How refreshing is that ?!! 6th. It’s very sturdy. It’s a bench so it’s made for seating, not standing. But I got it in part so I could stand on it to help get into a deep soaking tub. It works for that purpose. Just be sure your weight is centered on the middle of the bench, not the sides. Here’s one tip for assembly: when starting each screw, if it seems snug - do not force it. Instead wiggle the screw a little side to side until it finds its groove. Then you can easily hand tighten it about half way. Then, use the tool to tighten about 3/4 of the way. I recommend not tightening any Screw all the way until all of them are partly in. That way you can wiggle the parts a little, if needed, to fit snuggly in all places. Then slowly finish screwing in tge screws. Be careful not to overtighten (just hand tighten per the instructions) because overtightening could strip the top of the screw or the wood. Re-tighten again, if needed, after 2 weeks of use. So to sum up, this bench is beautiful, sturdy, very well made, easy to assemble, and a great price for the high quality of the product. And also, thanks for the good customer service. I shopped around a lot before second on this one. I’m glad I did. I think you’ll be happy with anything you buy from this company. Read more

Very nicely made, high quality bench

I am very pleased with this bench. It can double as a shower chair, or a makeup bench in my bathroom. Very attractive, sturdy, well made, and easy to assemble. I would definitely purchase again. I can not speak for the longevity of the item as I've only used it a few times. I am concerned that the screws will rust so I make sure that it dries thoroughly after each use in the shower. The height is perfect for both the shower and my bathroom countertop. The cat seems to like it too. lol Read more

Great seat that is not only sturdy but also beautiful.

Lovely bench and very sturdy. Very easy to put together. The only thing that could make it better would be a clip that would hold shower head between times when you are holding it. However, I have a horizontal grip bar and it will hold the showerhead just fine. Read more

Quality, comfort, appeal, durability!

Wow, I am so pleased with this item. First tucking away the old white/silver medical seat that was too large to set in a tub sideways, was a bit wobbly, and looking at it reminds you of the hospital... This new AquaTeak is absolutely perfect fit with height adjustable feet, gorgeous teak wood (and we bought the oil to try as well) is so beautiful. The design let's you move it in any direction to fit small to large tubs/showers, and can hold weight perfectly with absolutely zero wobbling. We feel so sturdy and safe on this. Anyone who has a medical need to sit, or just to make your bathroom look like a spa...I recommend this to everyone and I have family that will be getting this for Christmas! Thank you AquaTeak for making life easier in the shower, due to back surgeries and other daily life issues and the show off appeal too! Sincerely The Robinson's Read more

Need better instructions, proper peg alignment, and well-aligned holes

The bench, once assembled, is beautiful, nice and heavy/sturdy, deserving of a 5 rating. Assembly, however, is a huge challenge, and takes it down one star. The instructions give only a diagram, not instructions about which pieces to connect first, how loose to leave the screws/bolts and what to do if the holes don’t align properly. We tried fitting one leg to the seat first, and immediately broke the wooden peg that is, presumably, there to provide a guide to properly align the screw holes. We solved that problem by digging out the wooden peg segment in the hole as best we could, then pounding the remainder down deep in the hole so the remaining stub would enter unobstructed. Then we attached the two legs using the crossbar. That was easy. Then we fit the 3-piece leg assembly onto the upside-down seat. Then the fun began. We tried to align all four holes and could not. Finally, we figured out that the problem must be the angle at which AquaTek folks pounded in the guidance peg into the leg. We got out our trusty Dremel tool, and sanded off about half of the diameter of the peg. Then the screws would go in, albeit less-than-perfectly straight. Based upon the hints from other buyers, we will now use lemon oil to put a protective coat on this puppy. Read more
