We have been feeding our axolotl live worms for 2 years. We made a worm farm, night crawlers and red Wigglers. Our axolotl was thin and her gills were shorter than I liked. We added blood worms and mysis Shrimp, nothing improved. Then we bought this food and started feeding her it two months ago. The difference in our axolotl is amazing. She is a nice weight now, looks healthy! Her gills have grown and filled In tremendously. She is more active and having regular bowl movements. All the groups I’m in said to only feed worms but I swear, since switching to this food, our axolotl is over all more active and healthy. You can see the change. I’m so happy we tried this food. And she loves It! I highly recommend Read more

I took in an adult male melanoid from a family that had him on a pellet diet. I have had the most difficult time getting him to eat, he’s not interested in live foods and would hardly touch the pellets. He is currently very underweight (the reason the family was looking for a new home, hoping someone else could get him to eat). Most of my axolotls have eaten mainly live food so I was at a loss. Saw a recommendation on Reddit for this food and decided to give it a shot. This boy LOVES it. He is suddenly eating every chance I give him. As soon as the pellet drops I front of him he will snag it! He’s very enthusiastic about them while his last pellets would just sink and eventually turn to mush. I finally feel this boy may have a fighting chance. (Don’t worry he’s not exposed to tank lights long for long, I use a low colored light while feeding or cleaning so I can see him better and then turn it back off!) Read more

I am a new axolotl owner. The pet stor had been feeding only live fish. I wanted something that was not alive and was a complete food source. There have been times that the local pet store is out of live feeders. I wanted an option that stored better but I was worried that Chancey wouldnt eat anything that wasnt alive. She LOVES this stuff! Read more

I rescued an adult axolotl recently. His former owners had been feeding him grub cubes, but his body condition is terrible, he has no gills and his toes and tail have old trauma. He had no idea what to do with worms, so I tried giving him these pellets, because they’re more nutritious than the grub cubes his old owners were feeding him. He ate four of them and seemed to love them, but he’s had major issues with bloating and buoyancy since then. I don’t have substrate in his tank, water perimeters are great, there’s no wake from the filter. I don’t know for sure it’s from these, but I suspect it may be. I’ve just read a few things saying pellets can cause constipation and bloating. He hasn’t pooped or eaten in a few days. My axolotl is 8.5” long. He ate four of them in just a couple minutes, maybe I should have spaced them out more? Read more
