I would definitely size up at least 1-2 sizes from your jean size. I comfortably wear a size 34/30 men’s in American Eagle jeans and I bought the 36 belt and had to return it because it couldn’t even get it to catch the first hole. Bought the size 40 belt and it catches the 3rd hole comfortably. So I sized up 2 sizes from my actual jean size. That’s really all I would be ware of.
