This is a great non-alcoholic option. I really enjoy craft beer, but often in the summer I want to keep my calories lighter or have a non-alcoholic option. I would recommend only having this beer, which tastes great, but if you have a regular beer and then switch to this it is a weird transition for flavors. Read more
Surpassed my expectations. If you're like me (loves beer - specifically IPA - and drinks more than they should) this might help lower your alcohol consumption while still enjoying sipping on beer. I gave them a try and now buy them regularly. Example: On an evening where I might drink 3 beers, I have one of these in between two 'real' beers. This cuts my consumption by a third, spaces out the two alcoholic beverages giving my liver more time to process them, and on top of that I'm hydrating. I've been trying out non-alcoholic beers and finally found a good one! Has a citrusy, hoppy flavor and a head. Really satisfies any beer cravings for me. For some reference on my subjective taste: my favorite real beers are Balast Point Grapefruit Sculpin, Dogfish Head Citrus Squall, and Voodoo Ranger Imperial IPA (basically I love grapefruit) and so far I've tried the Athletic Brewing Run Wild, Brooklyn Hoppy Amber, Flying Dog Deepfake, and a few of of the Hop Splash fizzy waters. This Athletic Brewing Free Wave Hazy kind beats them all by a mile for me. Read more
I no longer drink, but sometimes I want something beer-y, and pleasant to drink while I'm watching the Lions lose football games. This has a nice body to it, and hits the hoppiness I seek in N/A beers. That said, N/A craft beer tends to be expensive, and this one is a little expensive. Read more
I've been an Athletic fan for years. The Free Wave is my favorite of their non-seasonal beers. I don't have the language to describe this in "Beer Advocate" terms, but it's a satisfying, full-bodied brew with lots of bit - just what I loved when I drank "real" IPAs. When Sunset Stoke or Tucker's (seasonal Athletic varieties) aren't available, this is my go-to. And Whole Foods often has it on sale for $9.99. Read more
