I've had my Atom longboard for about a month now and love it. I am new to lonboarding, so my review is just my opinion based on my brief experiences thus far. I find the 41-inch board to be super stable. The trucks were fairly tight at first, but they have loosened up a bit with time, making turning and carving easier. I am 6'2, 175 pounds, and I can maneuver this board with relative ease. It is long, so making sharp turns is tough. That said, this board is not designed for sharp turns. One great thing for me is that my 6-year-old daughter can sit on the front as we cruise around the park. I still have plenty of room to stand, kick, and turn. I doubt anybody reading this will find that aspect beneficial, but we love it. All of the materials seem to be of great quality. The trucks are solid, and the wheels and bearings roll nice and smoothly. Overall, I really love this board. And, the price was amazing. Similar boards from other makers were way more. Read more

This board is a great board for beginners. Atom makes it very low to the ground, making it a very stable choice. Atom’s design also encourages good foot placement, and allows the rider to get comfortable quickly. The board is a little stiff at first, but that can be a good thing. Because the trucks start out being stiff, it gives you a chance to get your balance on it. The symmetrical design is great because it can be ridden both ways. After riding around for a couple days, I felt like I’d been doing it for years. The design is very sharp. People will notice you cruising around on this beauty. I have got numerous compliments on this board since getting it. The graphic really pops with the black and orange color scheme. The design is glossed over which makes it nice and shiny. One of the first things I noticed is how well this board is made. The wheels are of good quality and do not skid, which makes it good for just starting out. Other reviews knocked the grip tape, but I couldn't disagree more. The grip tape does a great job of keeping your feet from sliding. A couple weeks in and there is no sign that the tape will peel at all. The deck is also made of sturdy wood. I’ve banged the deck off of countless curbs, and it has handled it well. The drop deck is great for shredding downhill! I’ve noticed that it doesn’t turn extremely sharp, but it carves really well. The way the board handles speed is impressive. I haven’t noticed the board shake at all at speeds around 20 mph. If you really want to jump into longboarding, this is the board to do it! Read more

I grew up doing a little bit of skateboarding with my brother but never was very good. Longboarding was not really a think back then on the east coast. I always wanted a longboard but never got one till now. I am a snowboarder been snowboarding most of my life. So I feel good on a board. This longboard is great I can carve easy on this thing it feels like I am on my snowboard. I got a little too comfortable then then realized I am not on snow but concrete and slowed myself down. I am still new to this. This board is giving me the confidence to go faster and father little by little. The bearings and the trucks need to break in a little when you first get it. I feel like I will need to tighten them after a few more rides. So far It had been a lot of fun. It rolls over cracks and rocks no problem. I feel so stable on this thing that it makes me feel like I am ready for more because of that I think it is a great beginner board. I was researching what board to get and the Dropdown Deck is a great choice for anyone that wants to have fun on a board. You can cruise or GO FAST. If you are looking to get into longboarding you can not go wrong with this. Read more

I bought this longboard for $85 about 3 months ago and paid less than $100 after shipping. I have to say I wasn't expecting much for that price. But I was delightfully surprised. This board is of very good quality. The deck is sturdy with good flex and the trucks are good cruisers. I wouldn't use the trucks or wheels for downhill but it's great to ride to work. That's my story so far until today. Today I became amazed by my atom longboard when it was ran over by a pickup truck. I was heading to work and I hit a grove in the asphalt I hadn't seen as I was swinging to kick and I faltered and in doing so shot my board forward and right under a pickup crossing the road I was on. The pickup went over the board just behind the nose where the truck mounts. Needless to say I thought my board to be doomed. It was not. My truck is bent ever so slightly on one side where the tire climbed the nose but the rest of the board is fine. I'll pickup a new set of trucks as I have been meaning to upgrade anyways but I am in love with my board. I believe this board is a steal of a deal for what they sell them for. I have had $300 boards I have liked less than this one. I will be buying boards from atom in the future and I am recommending everyone I know who just needs a cruiser or a good deck and a spare set of trucks to get this board. 5-17-16 update. I have since replaced the trucks with caliber 44s and upgraded to abec 11 bearings. And pulled out one of the spacers between the board and the trucks. The board is so low when you turn the board can bite the ground at full turn. But, this board is now crazy fast. It's insane how fast it is. I strongly recommend the extra $60 it took to make a good board a great board. Read more

I started skating last month and after doing some research, I decided to go with this Atom longboard. You see a lot of reviews on Youtube or on Google about Amazon brand longboards, and honestly, I think most are paid reviews. This board, however, definitely exceeded my expectations of a "cheap" beginner board. Very stable, very smooth, and very quiet compared to the other Retrospec longboard that I bought for my wife. The improvements I feel like would make this board a lot better are grippier grip tape (the grip tape on this board is not very grippy) and less weight would make this board the best choice for beginners.
