These are a great gift idea for teenagers and preteens because they're beautiful and sturdy; however, the pendents should be placed in a small plastic bag with the necklace hanging outside the bag, because the necklace was entangled in one pendents and trying to get it undone one of the crystal stones broke off. We had been reading a pirate adventure book to our 4-year-old grandson, and he was fascinated by the idea of buried treasure, so I made a treasure map of our back yard, and the adventure was on. I used compass points and steps for distance to make it interesting (He now knows his directions and how to use a simple compass). He wore a bandana on his head, a patch on his eye, held a cutlass made of a branch in his hand, and we followed the map all over the yard until we found the X. He dug with a small spade and, low and behold, he found this little treasure box filled with coins, candy, and gems. The box doesn't latch, so I tied it with sisal twine before I buried it.
