To be honest I bought this for the sole purpose of shredding cans which was primarily differnt from industrial shredders because of costs, less than $500 vs a couple grand. Anyways after reverse engineering the piece here, more specifically removing the cover-hood, it worked great on aluminum cans. The number one thing to watch out for, paper, cds, or cans, assuring that you give the motor breathers here and there.
