I wanted to buy my daughter something that was engaging and musical as she tends to get bored with toys fairly quickly. First: I purchased this around her 1st birthday and she really only wanted to play with the maracas. However, she also thought they were drum sticks and decided to beat the coffee table to death. That said, they held up without a chip or scratch in them. Second: I was concerned about the tambourine ripping open during her maraccan (this isn’t a word, but see above) drum solos, but it didn’t. Third: She didn’t understand the concept of the triangle, whistle, or cylinder-like instrument with the stick (excuse my ignorance on this one because I don’t know the name). Fourth: The thin sticks for the xylophone do bend but will break with a lot of pressure. Toddlers apply the pressure of an industrial juicer from Orange Julius - if you know, you know. Final opinion: This was definitely not the right toy to buy for my child’s first birthday. While she was inquisitive and wanted to try them, she really just wanted to use all the instruments as weapons of mass destruction. I ended up putting them back into the box and only recently gave them back to her now that she’s approaching 2 years old. As an almost-2-year-old she still doesn’t understand the triangle or the cylinder, but she only applies the pressure of a hand-held juicer from the kitchen drawer with the xylophone sticks. The tambourine has survived its multiple drum sessions and use as stepping stool, so they continue to be durable. If your child enjoys music and you know how to play with these toys to enhance the interaction, it’s a great purchase at a great value. She does like when I play and sing “Twinkle Twinkle” and I enjoy the neutral aesthetic for her as too many bright colors have been proven to be overstimulating. Read more

I love this toy set. It was for my 1 year old grandson and he loves it too. However it should be noted that some of the pieces are not quite appropriate for a 1 year old so i have kept them aside till he is a bit older. The mallets for the xylaphone and triangle strike are long and thin and he is still at the teething/chewing on things stage - so I worried that the long thin wood and metal pieces could potentially cause injury or gagging. But like i said i just set them aside for now and he uses the wood pipe to play the xylaphone instead. The quality is great, the sound from these is much better than the cheaper sets also the finish of the wood is smooth and perfect. The edges of the metal is smooth and not sharp also. Read more

These are well made wooden instruments. My almost one year old grandbaby loves banging on the little tambourine and enjoys playing along to music with all the little instruments. Good price for something that will last. Read more
