But 3.5 stars for me. This shaver gives a close shave with no frills. It feels substantial even with the plastic body. The battery life is excellent. Once the break-in period is over (~2 weeks) no razor burn. So why only 3.5 for me? If any part of your beard is slightly longer, this razor won't cut it. That's by design, I believe. This is the product to use after a barber has already gotten most of your beard gone. This is for a barber to apply that final finishing touch. So if you skip a day shaving or miss a spot, you might have to get out your trimmer for some longer hairs. For me if there was a trimmer attached for me this would be ideal. But there's not. I found the FX3 to surprise me from all the tests that I threw at it. The FX3 look wise is a sleeper. Flat Black, gold foil- it is clean but they toned down appearance. They stayed away from the classic babyliss flash. It is my opinion that they knew, that this one was a banger so they did not have any it to look like the rest. Using it on myself first, I put it through a lot of tests. My neckline is a spot prone to getting irritation and burn by day 2. It cuts very close, glides super well, and it just feels right in your hands. They clearly thought this design out. Subtle indents and grooves in the spots where you need so the feel in my hand is an 10/10 I really like what they did there. Cutting Under beard on the neck area? This is where hairs get left behind and I need to go to a razor, then get irritation. The FX3 got all of the hairs, without struggling, zero razor burn, no nicks or bites. I even too it to my chest and abs. This is a really good test to put shavers through. The thing legit gave me a clean body shave and I got no irritation. I pushed hard on purpose to see if it would bite me and it did not. It handled any contours I threw at it very well. I like everything about this electric shaver. So far, I have shaved 3 times. So keep my limited experience in mind for my review. -- It is not too heavy. It is not too light. Goldilocks would say it is just right. -- It is easy to grip. It has a good shape to grasp. -- It initially sounded a bit too noisy (I never used an electric shaver before). But it is not loud. It is a bit noisy, but nothing that you should find unpleasant. -- It gives my face a close shave (not the closest, but darn close). However, it depends on the hair. If it is rough, then this shaver works great. If it is fine, then this shaver will struggle. Fine hair will bend and fold, and that means that it will not go into the foil cover's holes for the blades to cut it. So I still use a disposable razor for my neck. But for my beard and mustache, it works great. And it will not cut you. So there is no worrying about that. -- I initially tried it with close to 10 days worth of facial growth. It is not designed for that, and did nearly nothing. But if you shave daily, or even skip a day (which is what I do), it works great. -- The manual states to fully charge it before using it. I did. I decided to test how long a full charge would last. I purchased this on March 27, 2025. I have been shaving with it every-other-day, since then. The LED light, today, October 17, 2025, flashed that the batter is low. And even with it flashing, it shaved like it was fully charged (no sign of slowing down). I am impressed. The manufacturer definitely used a quality battery. -- There are four battery strength bars. According to the manual, when the last bar starts blinking, you have 10 minutes left. At full charge, it is supposed to last 3 hours. -- For my shaves, it did not heat up. -- It is simple to remove the cap to expose the blades. That allows you to run some water over the blades to clean off the shavings. You can also rinse out the cap, which will have shavings. It takes 3 to 5 seconds to rinse off everything. You do not have to touch anything. Then you let it air dry. The manual warns against using a blow drier. So let it air dry. -- The manual warns to not use it when it is wet. -- The manual warns to not submerge the shaver under water. But rinsing is fine. I would think twice about using it in the shower. -- Not mentioned in the listing (and this goes for all electric foil shavers) is that you should oil the blades after every use. The manual goes on to read that not doing so will void the warranty. -- The oil is not included. So if you do not have oil, add it to your basket. -- The rechargeable battery is not replaceable. So whenever the built-in battery gets too old to hold a charge, the shaver becomes a brick -- sort of. It should still work while plugged in. But that is not clear. -- I had a question about its built-in battery. I called their customer service number (it is in the manual). After waiting 12 minutes, I was connected to a polite agent. But rather than telling me whether or not the battery was replaceable, she kept repeating that if it dies under the 2-year warranty, they will ship a new one. I was asking her about replacing the battery after the 2-year warranty period, and it was going in circles. Either she did not know the answer, and did not want to say that she did not know, or she was told / trained to focus on the warranty. But I politely made my question clear, and she eventually said that after 2 years, the unit would need to be recycled. That was the best answer I was able to obtain from her. There was no mention of a battery replacement in the manual. -- The foil and the blades are replaceable I do not know how simple or tedious that would be. It is probably not difficult, based on the rest of the shaver's very good design. I hope that the blades and the foils hold up for the long run. But for now, I like everything about this shaver (other than not being able to replace its built-in, rechargeable battery). Read more
