Very unpleasant natural scent, caution if you're sensitive to scents.

• Would I get it again or recommend it and why: -No, never again for myself and no to most people. -The natural scent was very, very strong and very, very unpleasant. It was so strong, and so hard to handle that I could not put it on my skin. I’d be surprised if most people could tolerate the scent. • Size: -Note the listing has multiple sizes. -30 ml, 1 oz • Quality and Value: -The ingredient list is excellent. -However, the high price and the scent make it hard to like this. • Container: -Amber, semi-opaque glass dropper bottle that protects the formula from light degradation. -Attractive bottle, label, outer carton and nicely presented. • Formula: -It is an oil based formula. • Scent: -It has no added perfumes, fragrances, essential oils or fragrant plant extracts. -However, I must strongly state that it is in no way safe for anyone sensitive to scents or who has trouble tolerating unpleasant scents. This is one that’s going to be tough for most people to handle. -There is a reason I always sniff test for scent before application, and this is why. It was a very strong, sickening scent that I don't see how anyone could tolerate. -It's hard to describe but if you took cod liver oil, strong castor oil, and the sharpest fresh cut lawn and greenery with leaves and mixed it-that's about it. It was one of the most unpleasant scents I've encountered in a long time. • Application and Use: -It's for under eye use. -It's an oil based formula. • Sensitive skin: -I was not able to apply it due to the scent, but the ingredient listing should be sensitive skin safe. • Skin Types: -It is oil based, so normal to dry skin. • Skin issues and concerns it addresses: -Under-eye treatment -Dry Skin • Body Areas: -Under-eye area -Face • Ingredients: PLUKENETIA VOLUBILIS SEED OIL SQUALANE TETRAHEXYLDECYL ASCORBATE L-ASCORBYL PALMITATE TOCOPHERYL ACETATE DL-ALPHA TOCOPHEROL BISABOLOL PHENOXYETHANOL SORBIC ACID CAPRYLYL GLYCOL • Standout Ingredients: -Squalene • Ingredients checked on both Paula Begoun's and Incidecoder's skincare ingredient encyclopedias: -I checked the ingredients listed in both encyclopedias and found no problematic ingredients. There were no common allergens, fragrances, essential oils or irritating alcohols. The ingredients were listed as generally favorable and good for the skin. • Major Ingredients by function: -Antioxidant: Plukenetia Volubilis Seed Oil, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Dl-Alpha Tocopherol -Skin brightening: Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate -Skin-identical ingredient: Squalane -Soothing: Bisabolol -Emollient: Plukenetia Volubilis Seed Oil, Squalane, Caprylyl Glycol -Moisturizer/humectant: Plukenetia Volubilis Seed Oil, Caprylyl Glycol • Allergens: -No gluten, wheat or common allergens are listed on the ingredients list. • Pros: -It's in an opaque non see-through container to protect the ingredients from light degradation. -Attractive, nice presentation of the bottle and outer carton. -No common allergens or gluten listed on the label. -No common irritants such as irritating alcohols, essential oils or irritating plant extracts. -Vegetarian friendly -Cruelty free. -Fragrance-free with no added perfumes, fragrances, essential oils or fragrant plant oils. But it is in no way safe for those sensitive to scents. -Very good ingredient listing. • Cons: -The price per ounce is quite expensive, especially with the unpleasant scent. -The bottle did not have the ingredients printed on the label. I had to clip it from the outer carton and attach it to the bottle using a clear hair elastic. -The scent is extremely unpleasant. It was so strong and so sickening I could not put it on my skin. Again, think cod liver oil meets caster oil meets strong fresh mowed lawn with some really strong, sharp green plant leaves thrown in. -This is in no way safe for those sensitive to scents or who can't tolerate unpleasant scents. • Impression: -The unpleasant scent, that's so strong and unpleasant I found it intolerable (and think most people would as well), and the high price make this something I disliked and would not recommend. -However, if you tolerate the scent, the ingredients are favorable in skincare encyclopedias. A nourishing undereye oil made in Canada

I researched BAO Laboratories and saw that they are based in Canada, and all their products are natural alternatives to their chemical counterparts. I get nervous about the number of ingredients I cannot pronounce in my skincare, so it was nice to see something for the delicate undereye area that is just a concoction of oils and plant extracts. This serum is made for deep hydration, so if you are prone to breakouts with oils, you may want to consider that. I have dry, mature skin and my undereye area is messy from allergies and tearing. This oil is perfect for me. The smell almost smells like vitamin E and leaves. It is a lovely, natural smell. It goes on very smoothly, and you can feel it absorbing immediately. I was happy to have this Persephone oil waiting for me at home when I got back from hiking, where I had been rubbing my eyes and sneezing for over 6 hours in the mountains. It was SO soothing. I made the initial application and then massages to ensure proper absorption a couple more times and was happy to see that just a tiny bit goes a long way. One drop will be enough for both eyes—just pat pat pat and then massage. Could you wait 10and seconds, do it again? It doesn't absorb immediately and leaves a brightness without being greasy. No irritation or breakouts. It has a higher price point but if you are a fan of quality, local skincare, you can look into BAO Laboratories. They definitely look like they care about their mission and quality. I had never heard of them but am definitely impressed with their neat little undereye serum and can definitely give my thumbs up if you have the money for it. Quality isn't always cheap. Read more

Hydrating Oil w/ Vitamin C & More▪️Some Brightening & More Over Time▪️Natural Smell Odd But Fades

This BAO Laboratory Persephone Eye Serum Oil is an oil-based serum with antioxidants such as Vitamin C, squalane and more. Sacha Inchi oil is the main ingredient. This doesn’t have added fragrance, but I recognize the scent as being the Sacha Inchi oil, which I think smells earthy and somewhat pungent rather than neutral. It’s not the most inviting aroma, but it fades quickly so it’s not an issue for me. This serum has a short list of good ingredients instead of a bunch of colorants, fragrance and other filler. It has a preservative but would spoil quickly without one. My skin doesn’t get any irritation from this serum. This oil spreads easily so I pat just a drop into the orbital bone area. It initially looks oily and shiny but my dry skin absorbs it within a couple minutes, and that oily feel and look goes away. It feels soothing and moisturizing, and it also makes my skin feel soft and smooth. I have chronic dark circles and like that this serum does leave my undereye area looking brighter after it soaks in. While I feel that’s a temporary benefit at this point, with ingredients such as Vitamin C and Bisabolol this has potential to brighten and firm more with regular use over time. Like it a lot so far. 4.5 stars. Made in Canada. Ingredients: Plukenetia Volubilis Seed Oil, Squalane, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, L-Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, DL- Alpha Tocopherol, Bisabolol, Phenoxyethanol, Sorbic Acid, Caprylyl Glycol.
