This tiny little steel drum is of quite a nice quality. It has tiny bears of various sizes cut into the top of the drum. When playing the drum, the notes sound very clear for the first 4 notes, but the second set of 4 notes doesn't sound as clear. So I ordered a replacement drum to test to see if it was just a defect. I was able to set up the replacement through my account. It came in a very timely manner. I played the two drums side by side and decided that the sound was very close, but the replacement that I received definitely rang a bit truer. Before I reordered the item, I read some troubleshooting instructions that stated that to fix the pitch of the drum, you can gently bend the tongue back into place. Looking closely at the drum, I noticed that the smallest tongue looked a little indented. I pushed it up from the back with one of the back ends of the mallets, and it seemed to improve the sound of the note. So over time, if you are working with this drum, the tongues may get a little bent out of place, especially if kids are playing with it. After getting the replacement, I felt much happier with the drum since I like things to be perfect when I first get them. I think that is a very nice quality instrument for just over 20 bucks, and it will be a nice addition to our family of instruments. Everything that is included in the set is very nicely made. It comes in a thick black velvet bag and has nice little mallets. A drop of glue could prevent the balls from falling off the sticks. It also has a nice little instruction booklet and a piece of cloth for cleaning your drum. I found the drum very meditational as I was matching the tones between the two drums. I would almost like to keep both of them just to be able to match sound vibrations like that again. It comes in lots of colors, so maybe I will get another color.
