My dad had a heart attack and spent weeks in rehab. Before discharge he asked me to find a bed rail similar to what they had at the rehab center. This rail is sturdy & perfect for his needs, its very sturdy and stable and he is able to get out of bed without help. We installed it pretty easily on his king size bed and the size is just right. It adjusted perfectly to where he wanted it and could easily access it but it doesn't take up all of his bedside space. This rail has been a great help to get his independence back. This bed rail really helps my father getting in and out of bed. He is 82 with Parkinsons. He's able to get himself out of bed on his own now. The rail was very easy to install. I installed it all by myself. He has a queen size memory foam mattress and box spring. Wrapped the strap around the box spring. This bed rail will take a lot of weight for something to move it. That makes me feel good. I was worried about the rail moving and him falling out the bed. But this rail is not moving. Its sturdy. I find it very safe. The little pocket on the bed rail comes in handy to. My father doesn't have to reach all the way to the night stand anymore. I put his remote, handkerchief, etc in the pocket. I use this on my couch that has a 5" dense foam type topper/mattress for sleeping/napping day or night. This set up Works well to keep legs up to offset leg swelling. But needed aid to get up upon or pull self upright and this fills that bill. -Easily put together. Has bag of extra screws/bolts that wasn't needed. -Has double velcro attachment black bag and big pocket and net pockets to go over cross member stabilizers, to put in kleenex, chapstick, a tv remote with earphones, etc. -Has covered rubber grab bar to aid one's grip in use to stand, sit, or adjust while laying down. - The paint seems thick applied and flaking nor chipping off not seen or experienced. I suppose one could take apart from lock pins and paint unit any desired color. Or apply some reflective tape for nighttime use in low light for visual needs. - The locking pins that fit into holes on the adjusting heighth poles or the horizontal under mattress stabilizer work easily. The only piece that is tricky is the thinner middle poles stabilizer bars going into receiving holes to attach upper handle. Needed help to keep all these lined-up to slip in together. Sturdy and well-made, but assembly instructions were vague, written by non-English speakers, and parts were not labeled. Marking the parts so you could see that ‘part A inserts into part B’ would have been much more helpful and made assembly much easier. One star off for poor instructions. Well made and easy to put together. My husband had open heart surgery and this really helped him to get out of bed. We have a platform bed so it took some ingenuity to anchor it. Obviously works better if you have rails or a normal frame. Read more
