While the boots look beautifully made and smell like high-quality leather, the sizing is way off. I normally wear a 6.5 (occasionally a 7), but had to return the 7 and go all the way up to an 8.5 just to have enough room for socks. The low rating is mainly for comfort: at this price I expected soft, wearable leather. Instead the heel and toe areas are quite stiff and uncomfortable. I’m not sure they’ll ever break in enough to feel truly comfortable. I’m still unsure whether I’ll keep them or send them back. Update. I decided to keep the boots. I am wearing them with thin socks and will continue this way until they get a little softer. The are comfortable enough to go through the process of breaking them. I already knew Bed Stu runs a half size small on me since I previously bought a different style at Bed Stu, so I ordered Judgement boots in the teak color in size 8.5. I’m an 8 or 38 in most shoes/boots, unless they are super pointy, & my feet are more on the narrow side. As expected the 8.5 fit perfectly, & the mottled grey brown color is absolutely beautiful. They are not dusty or dirty looking like the stock photo, & they have a subtle shine on the toe area. Part of the sole on the underside of the boot is red which is a nice touch. The leather is not hard, is more on the soft side around the ankle but is not super flimsy. I only wished the laces were longer because I like to wrap the laces once around my ankles halfway up the boot, instead of lacing the whole way up. The boots are comfortable & I can stand in them at work for 6 hours. I am pretty sure the people at the Bed Stu store told me each boot was handmade, hand dyed & no 2 pair are exactly alike. The other pair of boots I have are amazing & I wear them often, so I’m sure these will be a staple for me, too. Read more
It is a great buy for the money. Like every one says it runs small. I ordered a half size too big and when I got it I could wear the boot but my toes were blistering from being cramped at the end of the day. The fix is simple- Take them to a cobbler and have them stretched. These boots are leather. They are going to stertch with time anyway. A good cobbler - really any cobbler - should be able to stretch them for you. You could probably do it yourself at home. I wear mine now with socks on a daily basis and they are my most comfortable footwear. Love them. My cobbler was impressed and said it was not that often he came across a shoe (or boot) fully made from leather and was impressed by the quality. This quality craftsmanship for this price is a fantastic deal. They are not going to show up over night or in a week but be patient. They are worth it. Read more
The boots are very stiff. I had to stretch them for width. The laces are ridiculously short, so I have to purchase new laces for my brand new boots. Not my favorite :( Also, the color is more of a honey than cognac, so they don’t match what I got them to ho with at all. Pretty disappointed. I would not purchase these again. These boots are very comfortable and the look is good. I was a disappointed that the soles looked used (dirty) and also appeared to be an after-market re-sole job. Other (non-distressed) Bed Stu boots have a black sole in the high wear parts and are embossed with the name Bed Stu. The boots I got have a rust colored sole that (is dirty) and says Vibram (and Vibram soles are great and durable - I just question if the boots I got have been re-soled). Other than the soles, they don't appear to be used - (except as they intentionally created to look distressed). Giving the benefit of the doubt, perhaps it is the spirit of the "distressed" look that the soles are Vibram instead of (what I presume to be the Bed Stu factory soles)....I don't know. Read more
Purchased 1/2 size bigger because of reviews I had read, and they fit perfect. I had read before that the color tends to be off a bit, but I believe that tends to be because other websites use altered photos with filters that often affect the colors of items, so far these are pretty close if not the same as the photos shown on the Amazon website. I was pleasantly surprised with how comfy these boots are. Would definitely recommend this product. Read more
These are my absolutely favorite pair of boots. I have had the previous pair of same thing and wore out and had to buy another pair. I get compliments all the time on them. They are so comfortable and cute with anything. When you first get them, they may feel a little tight, but will expand some after a few times wearing them. Highly recommend. Read more
