REALLY cool. I already knew about this product and wanted it for a couple years so I was happy to get one and feel that satisfying feeling of snapping my phone into place. It’s gentle but strong. It’s satisfying to just put it on and take it off. ANDDD there is no LIGHT to bug me at night!!! The white light only shows up if something is charging on the flat part of the stand. The base. Yes this has the floating MagSafe up top and you can also charge AirPods or a phone at the base. But without the magnets, it uses a light to show you it’s connected. One issue though, which will be with any of these - which I anticipated. It’s by my bed side and I said man if I get this, it better not move around.. so I looked up the weight and everything. Similar products had similar weight so I went for this one knowing it’s just about the best I could get. Sure enough, when I put this on the charger or ESPECIALLY when I pull it off, it’s gonna move. Simple solution - I already had these 3M sticky strips. My night stand is cheap and plus I will probably just keep this on it forever, so I went ahead and used those to essentially glue down the charger. AMAZING. STURDY. Never having used any type of stand with any of my phones, I first tried a couple of the cheaper wireless charging stands before realizing you get what you pay for. So I finally broke down and shelled out for this one. This is a quality unit. The base has weight to it - just enough to keep it on the desk when I grab my phone. While not adjustable, it doesn't need to be because it is set at the perfect height and angle for me, and this way there are no moving parts to mess with and get loose over time. I like that it has a dedicated power supply, no batteries or USB, and charges my iPhone 12 with Apple silicone case perfectly, at full Magsafe power - something I learned other units claim to do, but don't. Magsafe works just as well simultaneously with my AirPods Pro. I do not have an Apple Watch, and have no intention of getting one, so this unit charges everything I need while remaining a minimal, tight package - which I also like because it takes up very little desk space. The fact that it has no LEDs or lights of any kind is a big plus to me. To the extent a phone charger can show elegant, thoughtful design and look clean and attractive, I suppose this one does. I'm not a guy who's all about design cues and whatnot, but I do recognize and commend what they've done here. I think it's quite nice, actually, for what it is. I really have been surprised what a difference it makes having the phone positioned that way throughout my work day. It seems like a small thing, but for me it makes more of a positive difference than I expected. The only downside to this Belkin is the price. It's too bad it costs $100 to get a unit of this quality. I did settle for a cheaper unit for my bedside stand, but for primary use on my desk I'll part with the money for the Belkin, because it is of excellent quality. EDIT: Regarding LEDs, there is a single, tiny LED at the front of the base, which is a status indicator for AirPods charging. It seems to illuminate briefly when AirPods are placed there, then turns off. I had not even noticed the light and it doesn't change my overall opinion that I like the absence of noticeable lights and other complications to the unit. Read more
