I'm so hard of hearing that a traditional alarm clock or cell phone doesn't wake me up anymore, a deaf friend recommend this one. This clock is terrific!! I put the vibrating disk between the mattress and box springs, there is no way I can sleep through an intermittently shaking bed. I even travel with it to be sure I wake up for an early flight, although it's not really travel size. The only way it could be improved is to make the lighted clock WAY less bright, it lights up the entire room; but since there is a way to turn off the light that's not a problem, still giving 5 stars (I just keep an additional dim digital clock across the room so I can see what time it is in the dark). I needed a vibrating alarm clock during the summer when my wife is off school. I get up earlier, and she grumbles when the alarm goes off. I had tried vibrating alarm wrist watches but they were not strong enough to consistently wake me up and had no real snooze function. Although a bit pricy, I bought this clock. The clock works perfectly in waking me up and not disturbing my wife. The vibration is strong and persistent and the snooze function works well. I can't just put it under my pillow as I move my pillow around quite a bit, so I slipped the cord and vibrating device under the fitted bottom sheet where the pillow would normally be. It stays in place and just works. The display when illuminated is BRIGHT, even at the lowest setting -- think of a car's headlight next to your bed. My only grumble with the clock is that the clock's base pitches the face of the clock up at an angle. I checked and every bed in our house has the nightstand at almost the same level as the mattress, so when laying with your head on the pillow and looking at the clock the numbers are very difficult to read because you are on the same level and the display is not readable from an angle. You have to physically tilt the clock a little bit forward and then the large backlit numerals are astoundingly clear and I can easily read them without my glasses. I just wish there was some way to adjust the angle of the clock but I haven't found a reliable and steady way to do this. The symbols on the clock face take some experimenting to figure out and are not explained well in the little instruction sheet that comes with it. You will need to punch all the buttons a few times to make sure you understand what they mean. There's a battery indicator with a slash through it that I thought meant that it was not recognizing the back-up batteries, but then finally figured out that it means that the clock is not on battery power but plugged into the wall socket. Great clock and worth every penny. Read more

WOW! I wish I knew about this! I've gone thru at least 4 Sonic Alarms because they tend to break after couple years or if you forgot to turn off alarm. This alarm clock is so much better because it's incredibly easy to set up the alarm and the functions are very simple. The vibration alarm is a lot better than Sonic Alarm. The vibrate is strong but it will not rudely and wildly wake you like Sonic Alarm does. Read more

My dad thought it was too complicated. Its tough to buy for the elderly. I think they prefer things that remind them of the past not the future, Read more

Reliable, simple, strong. The biggest con is that with the backlight is too strong to leave on while sleeping, and with it off it is impossible to see from a lower angle (mine sits slightly elevated from the bed and I have the reach up and angle it down to see the time). Read more

The buzzer will knock your socks off. I feel that before I hear the alarm when it first starts. The alarm gets increasing louder. I sleep with really good earplugs in, and this clock does what it says it will. Read more

How do you get the display to be on permanently? It says to press the brightness button 5 times, but that isn't keeping the display light on. Read more
