No Money for Studio Display? Get This Excellent 4K Monitor for a Competitive Experience

I picked up the BenQ MA270U 27” 4K monitor for my MacBook, and honestly, it feels like the Studio Display experience without the Studio Display price tag. MacBook Integration: Plugging in with a single USB-C cable gives me instant 4K resolution, smooth macOS scaling, and even charges my MacBook at the same time. Fonts are crisp, colors are accurate, and the whole setup feels native—no hassle, no blurry text. Display Quality: The panel is gorgeous. Whether I’m editing photos, watching videos, or working on multiple documents side by side, the sharpness and vibrant colors make everything pop. It delivers pro-level performance for a fraction of the price. Design & Comfort: The slim bezels, sturdy adjustable stand, and BenQ’s eye-care features make it practical for long hours of work. It’s sleek enough to sit right next to a MacBook and not look out of place . Bottom Line: If you’ve been eyeing the Studio Display but can’t justify the cost, this monitor is the smart buy. It nails the essentials—sharp text, true colors, and seamless MacBook integration—without draining your wallet. Read more

Perfect 4K monitor for my Apple devices!

I’m really impressed with this monitor. It fits seamlessly with all of my Apple devices — Mac, iPad, and even my iPhone for screen mirroring. The color accuracy is excellent and eye-protecting, the 4K resolution is super sharp, and the overall build quality feels premium. Setup was simple, and the connectivity options make it really easy to switch between devices. If you’re in the Apple ecosystem and want a reliable, high-quality external monitor, this one is a fantastic choice! Read more

An Outstanding Monitor and Great Value

I use the BenQ 27" display with my 2024 MacBook Pro, to which the display is very nicely matched. There was no drama in the setup. The high resolution is very helpful for photo editing, and the color rendering seems quite good. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase. Read more

Great monitor for the money!

Amazing quality, especially for the price point! Was shocked! I’m a professional video editor/motion gfx artist, and I find it just as clear, detailed and as color accurate as other high end monitors for what I’m doing. Read more

Great idea - same color as my MacBook Pro, disappointing reliability, responsive service / support.

The monitor worked well until 7 weeks after purchase - then it started failing ( dark vertical bar appeared). I contacted Benq support using the form on their website and included photos of the probelm, the amazon receipt and the serial number. Their support team had me do a few diagnositc steps and they determined it needed repair . Frustrating that a 2 month old monitor would fail - what am I supposed to do for the time from when the monitor is shipped to them to repair and repaired/replaced? I reached out and they made altenative arrangements (which is why this is a 4 star review and not a 1 star revie).. Read more

A beautiful, powerful and easy-to-use and set up monitor from BenQ

I bought this BenQ 27” monitor for my photography and work projects. It is a fabulous monitor. My old Apple Studio monitor finally died and I wanted to find a less expensive new monitor with better connections to my MacBook Pro including better color profiling options. The BenQ met all my expectations and more. It is easy to set up and connect directly to my laptop. The 90 watt USB C connection powers your laptop and other devices. It just works easily and gives you a beautiful display with their advanced matte screen. I was leery of a matte screen, but it’s gorgeous. Images and text look very sharp with advanced display options with downloadable software from BenQ. And the price is great compared to an Apple Studio monitor. Read more

Exceptional Picture Quality attached to Mac Mini 4 at a reasonable price

Exceptional quality. I moved from an older iMac with a 5k Retina display ( so spoiled with picture quality) to a Mac Mini 4 and needed a display. Not willing to pay the high prices for the Apple 5K display which costs almost as much as a complete iMac and couldn't even justify the pretty high prices for the non-Apple 5k displays available, I was looking for an alternative. Watched a lot of reviews on YouTube as well as did a lot of reading and came across this Benq MA270U. Understanding that it is 4K and also the issues that you run into with Mac scaling it seemed like everyone was extremely pleased with this display. I set it up last night and was immediately impressed from the build quality to the amazing picture quality. I don't have the retina display to compare side by side, but compared to a new Dell S2725QC on my wife's computer this is head and shoulders above. I did have to spend a little bit of time with the Display Pilot 2 software to get everything working the way I wanted. ( example: I wanted to be able to use the keyboard brightness and volume controls, and they did not work immediately) In fairness to the Dell comparison, this display is more expensive and the Dell is nice, it is just this is way better. One advantage the Dell has over this, is the convince USB slot on the bottom of the display. The BenQ has a single USB-A that is not particularly easy to get at. The Dell has a USB-A and Usb-C that drop down from the bottom of the display with push of a button, making it easier to access. That is the only slight negative that I have come across. You will not be sorry, especially for the price. Highly recommend. Read more

Decent Monitor, But Hard to Compete with Studio Display

I purchased the BenQ MA270U 27” 4K monitor to use as a secondary display alongside my Apple Studio Display. While the monitor is fine overall, it doesn’t quite meet the same level of quality as the Studio Display, which admittedly sets a very high bar. One of the selling points of this monitor is its M-Book color mode, which is supposed to match the color profile of MacBooks. However, I found the colors don’t quite align with the Studio Display, even after tweaking settings. It’s not bad, but the difference is noticeable, possibly because the Studio Display is significantly brighter. That said, as a standalone monitor, the BenQ MA270U is perfectly adequate. The 4K resolution is crisp, and it performs well for general use. However, if you're pairing it with a Studio Display or have high expectations for color accuracy and brightness, it might feel a little underwhelming. Read more
