Stylish watch, accurate time, solar with minor caveat.

SysmgOctober 13, 2021✓ Verified purchase

This is a stylish watch. I have owned it for over two years. It looks great. Keeps accurate time. Never needs a battery. I have read other reviews about the clasp. Although the latching procedure is not intuitive, once you learn it, you never have any problems. The watch has never fallen off my wrist. Also the black wristband is holding up fine, not losing any of the black. I am fairly rough on a watch and have had no issues with the band. The only complaint is as people say the minute hand is narrow and has a very narrow limited luminescent area. The second hand is completely luminescent. So although the hour had is immediately identifiable, the second hand is more visible than the minute hand. So in limited lighting you may have to look at the watch carefully to tell what time it is. This can be annoying, but I still am very happy with the watch. Read more

Not another heavy glass jar!

Dweib McGeeJune 3, 2018✓ Verified purchase

Received this today. It ships in another unnecessary heavy glass jar as did my previous Bering watch. Waste of shipping weight and would no doubt be priced for considerably less if one could be found with out it. As for the watch itself, it's ok. But It just doesn't turn my crank as well as the Casio WaveCeptor series. Plus I don't care for the dark purple (navy?) center dial and the white on the minute hand is too narrow and hard to find sometimes at a glance. It's touted as a men's watch but I can see how the modern slender styling could possibly appeal to women as well. I may be doing a return. *update: June 8* decided to keep it and bumped it up one star from three to four. The looks have grown on me and so I gave it the benefit of the doubt and wore it on the job stripping latex paint. Found the fine mesh band cleans up easily with a toothbrush and water. The diamond hard sapphire crystal is a definite plus for those that may occasionally forget to take it off on the job. Lights out and the lume on the hands and indices seems adequate and still readable by 5 a.m. However, lacking radio sync (which my Casio's have spoiled me) and like my previous Bering purchase, the 11939-393, this watch has gained 2 seconds in less than a week. Which isn't a real big deal since we'd prefer to be somewhere a little early than late but some may consider this unacceptable for a $200+ watch these days. I've put a scented soy tea light candle in the glass Bering jar/cup by the window on my desk. Looks and smells real nice and they claim to burn for nearly 5 hours. Jelly Beans, Scented Soy Tealights, 12 Pack Clear Cup Candles Nevertheless, I still feel Bering could sell a lot more of these watches at a more competitive $79.95 price point if offered in a simple cardboard box rather than with this unnecessary heavy glass packaging. *update* 14 June: I have been wearing this watch now everyday on my job as a production machinist. In addition to the protection of the sapphire crystal, the low profile further precludes the watch from scratches. A concern and problem with thicker time pieces. I only wonder just how long the dark blue anodized finish will actually last. Especially around the sharper edges of the case. Still runs a few seconds fast but I continue to be satisfied with it so far. Note: I own several watches with mesh bands and the clasp on this Bering is of the double fold type and is superior to most. Very easy to operate and solid locking with no worry of coming loose. I think it's funny Amazon US lists this as a men's watch while Amazon UK lists it as a women's! Beringtime.com clearly has this in their men's collection. *Update*-nearly a month on, Jul 1: hadn't worn this for a few weeks now. Dug it out of a box, held it next to my just synced Citizen satellite wave and am blown away to see it is dead nuts accurate! To the second! Wow haven't touched it since the 14th. Read more

Beautiful blue face and the strap is an extremely lightweight ...

Steve MacAugust 16, 2017✓ Verified purchase

The watch oozes quality and style. Arrived in Gold Coast Australia ticking and running true time. Beautiful blue face and the strap is an extremely lightweight fine mesh Not 100% on the clasp though. Has an easy double clip function, but it just as easily self-unclipped twice without warning before i worked out this occurs if the strap has any slack, even slight, which allows the strap to move back against the clips and pop them open. My solution is to have the strap as tight as possible but still comfortable without any slack. It's easy to adjust the clipped into part (the female part) to achieve this. Then move the rubber 'sleeve' to press neatly up to the latch. Early days yet but this appears to work at keeping the latching secure. Shouldn't have to do this fiddly stuff and reckon Bering need to re-invent this clasp or have an alternative fitted. Despite this can't do less than 5 stars. Classy unit that looks the goods. Delivered on time & package protection is beyond excellent...

OSCAR BANDOQUILLOSeptember 26, 2023✓ Verified purchase

The top of the line European watch for the money that will last for at least 10 years minimum with no mechanical parts to wear out. The solar powered watch needs no battery replacement for at least its natural internal battery life of a minimum of 10 years. This watch is guaranteed to withstand an air pressure of 5 atmospheres without exploding into pieces (one atmosphere = 14.7 lbs of air pressure per square inch; therefore, 5 x 14.7 = 73.5 psi). Scuba divers may wear this watch up to a depth of 50 meters or roughly 150 feet deep in fresh or sea water. The face of the watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal which is scratch proof & scientifically known to be the 3rd hardest substance after diamond. The strap is a hospital grade stainless steel with a design to aerate your skin thus preventing rashes. The design does not overwhelm ones eyes but is simply, "A thing of beauty is a joy forever to wear". I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND BUYING THIS WATCH AS IT EMBRACES TECHNOLOGY, USEFULNESS, ELEGANCE & THE ROOTS OF A WELL THOUGHT OF SCIENTIFIC DESIGN SIMPLICITY AS WELL. Gorgeous Watch. Terrible Band.

badger1October 19, 2021✓ Verified purchase

Beautiful. Comfortable. Well made, except for the band. Instructions are so small difficult to determine exactly HOW to adjust the band. Once adjusted, the clasp wouldn't stay closed. USELESS. RETURNED. Read more

Good loking, not so great building

Diego I.August 20, 2024✓ Verified purchase

Liked the feel in the wrist a lot but the strap gave me the sensation of poorly build. It's kind of twisted and it's already breaking where its attached to the watch itself. But love the size, look and feel. Read more
