Purchased a cheap plasma cutter yrs ago that I had to send in for repairs 3-4 times, this last time I decided to do some research and landed on the BTC800DP 9th Generation 80Amp. It was a few hundred more than the other models but is heavier, probably over kill but will never be pushed to its max. I would suggest and purchased the extended warranty. Have put it to work on 1/2" and 3/4" and it is a hot knife thru butter!! I like the non-touch arc starting mode, the screen shows air pressure, voltage, and current, the post time function is nice with an adjustment range of 3-15 seconds. So far, this is a pretty awesome unit for the money. Just fired it up, and cut this 1/8” bed frame just to try it out. Even if it only lasts a year, it would be worth it. I let my grandson make the cut, he’s never used a torch. Using a pancake compressor for air. Read more

This plasma cutter is amazing. Very easy to follow the set up instructions. I connected the leads, power and it came with a quick disconnect air fitting installed. Turned on & cut some 1/4” steel pieces and it cut very smoothly. I will need some practice to get proficient, but the first few cuts impressed me. Would buy again and would definitely recommend. I found this plasma cutter to be well worth it's low budget price. With the price of oxygen and acetylene prices on the rise this is by far the cheapest method of cutting metal for projects around the house or farm. While it is not nearly as vestal or mobile as oxy/acetyl it certainly has it's place in my shop. It seems a safer option to a grinder and cutting disk also. I have only used this cutter on 220v and it has done an amazing cutting job on the metals I have tried so far. I cut some 1/2" plate material with little to no problems. The only problem I had was this was the first time I used a plasma cutter and after small adjustments to air pressure and my hand control it all seems to work just fine. It has so far worked very well and has preformed flawlessly with the tasks I have preformed. This Plasma Cutter included a couple of consumables which are not original to the torch but still work just as well. There is a small tool or wrench that comes with it but does not fit anything or at least I have not found out what it can be used on. I was very interested in another brand of cutter which had almost the same features and good reviews as this machine however this cutter has a water filter and quick connect air fitting built in and ready to go but the other cutter did not so that made my choice for me. I recommend purchasing some extra consumerables . I have been using this machine for about a month and it still works great. Wish I had bought it sooner. Read more

My son is a welder by trade and he was really impressed with the cutter, of course it doesn't compare to commercial units but for occasional use it's plenty .
