Supposed to be new... Ended up being used
I purchased this as "new" but upon opening it, it indeed was not new. It has already been used. I don't mind at all purchasing used products but it should have been disclosed & at least cleaned. I will clean it & try it out. Made me a little sad. I'll update my review after I clean it & see if it works. UPDATE: it works like it is supposed too, so that's wonderful! The fan isn't loud at all, less than a blow dryer on the lowest setting. Very easy to use. My hair is coarse & curly, I used the lowest setting & it worked fine. Read more

Liked it surprisingly well.
I tried another cooling flat iron that blew cool air out as it straightened and found it to be just okay. This one from Betahouse seemed to be designed differently than the other one, so I thought I would give it a try. For starters, the color is so cute. Very feminine if that matters to you. For me, performance is more important, but for some, pretty matters. The plate on this one is a decent size, and the part you hold is very manageable. I have used a flat iron that the plate was much bigger and I was not a fan of that. That was more like a paddle. I prefer the thin design of this one since it allows you to curl as well. That makes this more versatile. The barrel is nicely curved on the sides to help achieve a smooth curl/wave. I typically don’t use a flat iron for that, but I tried it with this one and was pleasantly surprised at the resulting waves I got. I always use a heat protectant on my hair before using hot appliances. I used the lower heat setting as well since I have fine, thin hair. I tried the essential oil feature, and while some people will probably love that, for me, it was not an important feature, but this is only because I typically spritz my hair with perfume as I am heading out the door, so I don’t need the added feature of scent from an essential oil, but like I stated, some people will love that part. Overall, I think the other cooling flat iron that I tried did a better job at cooling the hair, but there was something about this one that just felt better in my hand which is why I liked this one better.
