The Art to make a great coffee with a great coffee machine

The Bialetti coffee machine is excellent. It's strong and well made as usual Bialetti does. I'm italian I know Bialetti is our best coffee machine maker since 1933. Now, today I want to tell you how to make a great coffee. First of all, the coffee machine. There are two types of coffee machine, this one above, called Moka and the Napoletana. Of course, they give you two different kind of coffees. Which one's the best it's up to you. Moka gives you a harsh, bitter and stronger coffee taste. Napoletana smoother, lighter and sweeter. Both Moka and Napoletana Coffee machines have been created with two different types of metal: Aluminium an steel. Which one's the best? Steel for sure. Why? Aluminium changes a bit the taste of the coffee while steel does not. About coffee blends, italian ones are the best. We are not coffee producers but coffee blend makers. So in our blends you can find different kinds of coffee coming from all around the world and wonderfully blended together to give you different kind of coffee tastes. Of course it's impossible to achieve the same taste you would achieve if you make the same coffee in Italy. You don't have the same water and air you have in Italy. It sounds weird, I know, but that's how it goes. During the seventies, in our house in the country, my grandma was used to make coffee with the water coming from a tank under earth, there was no current water in the house at that time. My father, told me, nobody could make a better coffee... Couple of other tips: When you buy a coffee machine, wash it with washing dishes soap to remove factory chemical substances inside and outside. After that, never wash it again. This is important. What I do is this. I make the first coffee and leave it inside the machine for a couple of days. Than I make another one and leave it inside for other 24 hrs. The third one made, is my starting point. You can rinse the coffee machine after use, mandatory without using any soap. In some coffee machines this technique will create a coffee layer in the internal part of the machine, that's our goal, especially if the coffee machine is made in aluminium. I think you have enough information to make a great coffee and to enjoy your new Bialetti Coffee machine. Have fun! Read more

2 years of use with this great little pot

I purchased the 6 cup Bialetti back in Jan 2015 and we use it everyday and it is now May 2017 and we still love it! Today the replacement gaskets came in the replace the rubber gasket between the base and the pitcher...first time we have had to replace it...not bad for daily use! What we love is the ease and little waste of the machine. I usually do a great deal of reading before a purchase and this is no difference. To help answer some concerns, we have not had any problems with the handle; however, I do make sure it is not directly over the heat source. We have used this with a coil type stove, glass top stove, induction stove and gas...it has worked great with all of them. Since we grind our own coffee I have tried various grinds and as someone else said in the q&a the fine grind does make it into the pot then into the cup but I am fine with that...just use a courser grind if you don't like that....at one point I was very addicted to coffee and to let you know what this little thing is competing with is a capresso machine that grinds and pressure brews automatically, a French press, a plunger press type and a regular drip machine. We work hard and play hard with our five kids so we like our coffee strong and the six cup pot will brew about two Americano mugs, if it's too strong (for guests) we add some water to the cup. Great little machine that has no paper filters to buy just to use once and compost. I highly recommend this pot if you are looking for a durable little coffee pot...we have used this at the house, camping, in the RV and just about anyplace we go we take this with us :-). We have hand washed it and put it in the dish washer with good results either way...typically what happens is that we get it ready the night before and put it on the stove, once we get up we turn the stove on and start our normal routine while waiting for it to be ready and we pour our mugs and rinse out the coffee pot twice then put some water in it to sit all day until I get it ready for the next day that night...like I said this has been a great purchase for us! ;-) Read more

Easy to use and produces a very good cup of coffee

Really happy I purchased this. It's a single serving coffee maker but it's pretty easy to set up and to clean. Once I found a coffee that I liked and experimented with different ways of making it using this pot it has now become my favorite coffee maker. I'm not sure why they call these things espresso makers because I think that is a bit misleading but the coffee it produces it rich and flavorful similar to espresso but it is definitely not espresso. Right now I'm using a pre-ground espresso grind coffee by Peet's that I can buy in my local grocery store for under $10 a pound. It's really quite good. I started with the very expensive Illy Moka which I liked but the Peet's is comparable and much less expensive. I tried a couple of drip grind coffees because I had them and they are ok but you really need something closer to an espresso grind to get the flavor out. To make a good cup, use a lower flame and let it take a little longer to brew, pull it off the flame the moment it sputters or a couple of seconds before if you prefer. You need to be attentive with this brewer because walking away and getting distracted will ruin the coffee. Google some brewing tips. Read more
