I searched for tents for a long time. I was using the tiger wall for two people. I decided to go a little bit lighter. This isn't really much lighter, but maybe it'll be a table honestly, I haven't even used it but it's super easy to put up I love the size. I love that it's freestanding. I don't plan to do anything crazy with it, but you never know. Read more

It is saddening to write this review because I really enjoy Big Agnes products. This truly is an ultralight tent. When I opened it up I was really impressed with the fabric used. So much thought went into the details from the doors being off center, to the extra storage and rainfly vent having mesh . . . Did a multiday run down the Selway river and after the first night went to pack up and the ultralight cot I was using had rubbed holes in the floor fabric in multiple spots. This despite being on a soft surface and having the footprint. Read more

This is a very nice ultralight tent. It's a little cramped, but that's to be expected from a tent like this. The first night I used the tent it rained unexpectedly quite hard and the tent did great, but I'll need to see how well the waterproofing holds up over time. It's fairly easy to set up and can be done quickly with one person, although two people make it a lot easier. Sadly durability is the fatal flaw of this otherwise amazing tent. I bought it with the footprint (another $80 on top of the $500 the tent costs) and still got a hole in the bottom of tent through the footprint the first time I used it from a piece of gravel at a marked tent site. Not cool. Doesn't matter how amazing a tent is if you can't use it at real world camp sites without meticulously cleaning it first. Would be a 5 star tent if it came with a durable bottom or footprint included, but the hidden cost of a mandatory footprint and the very low durability means it only gets 3 stars. Read more
Big Agnes has a worthless warranty that the company does not honor. After my Copper Spur HV UL1 tent rainfly zipper failed after just a half-dozen uses — causing me to abandon a backpacking trip — the company would not fix the zipper or replace the rainfly, in opposition to its stated warranty policy. Simply put, Big Agnes does not stand behind its products or honor its warranty. And once I started looking into it online, a lot of people have the same terrible experience with this company. First off, the customer service is very slow, no more than one message returned a day even if you respond instantly to a received message. There's no reason for such laziness. Eventually I submitted photos and Big Agnes said it would be a $20 fix. I had to pay to ship the item; no free label was offered. Once my damaged rainfly was received, Big Agnes claimed coil damage on the zipper and refused to fix or replace the item. Ultimately, Big Agnes would not honor this part of its warranty policy: "If a replacement product is not available credit will be given for the original purchase price when returned with a receipt." Instead, Big Agnes offered a lesser $225 credit (less than the price I paid, and I have the receipt) for me to use to buy full-priced gear in its online store. The current price of a new Copper Spur 1-person tent is $450. So I'd have to spend another $225 after using my rainfly (damaged) and tent, stakes, and footprint (undamaged) as trade-in credit. Why would I spend money on gear from a company that, if it fails again, will not be supported? I've found other people on Big Agnes' Facebook reviews page, Reddit, and elsewhere complaining about similar poor treatment. Here's the bait-and-switch scam: Big Agnes can claim whatever it wants about how gear failed in order to get out of honoring its warranty. Big Agnes' customer service blamed me for the zipper failure and suggested I try a heavier-duty product instead. No, I've used ultralight gear before without issue, including another UL tent that's lasted me since 2012. Your zipper failed, Big Agnes — that's on you, not me. I've rarely had gear failures on similar high-priced outdoors gear, but when it has happened, other companies have made things right — by honoring their warranty policies. It's one of the main reasons why we are willing to spend top dollar on gear: In the event it fails, typically out in the field, a typically easy warranty claim can be made later. Why not just replace it and keep a customer happy? By refusing to honor your warranty, Big Agnes not only lost a customer but created a hater. I hope this review convinces any prospective buyers of Big Agnes equipment to avoid this brand. Use an outfitter or retailer that stands behind its products and warranty policies. Big Agnes ain't it.
