These cups are very clear and have a quality look. Their physical design is similar to those well-known red ones, with strong tops and bottoms and fairly flexible sides. The product page makes it clear that they're not intended for hot drinks. They are fully functional for cold drinks, with smooth rims and large, stable bottoms. The price for this set is reasonable and very appropriate for their quality, materials and packaging. Good buy, especially for our environment! The cups are made from polylactide, a material often called polylactic acid (PLA), but it's a polyester rather than an acid. See my notes about PLA composting below: Buyers who order these products because they are biodegradable (compostable) should recognize that they will only biodegrade under the right conditions and, even then may require years to fully decompose. These PLA composition cups are compostable in a reasonable length of time only when the composting process is sufficiently high temperature (around 120 degrees F) and not in an anaerobic environment that's typical of landfills. Lower temperature aerobic conditions may extend the time for decomposition to years. Those conditions are usually only available in industrial composting operations, so I will make sure that my city's recycling/disposal operations will actually accept these cups and properly handle them so they can decompose. Great size! Holds exactly 12 ounces from my ninja thristi. Be careful adding syrups or it'll overflow! The cup is small enough to grip comfortably but not so small that I have to keep going back over and over. I love that they're biodegradable. They don't have that staticky plastic feel and my sodas hold carbonation much better than regular plastic cups! They hold up well to the carbonation and I can use one cup all day. They fit in the upper cup holder on my thirsti so that the soda doesn't fall too far and lose carbonation like with other taller cups. Read more
These biodegradable plastic cups are great! I love the new array of compostable products that are out there and these feel just as stable as regular plastic cups. The top ring and the bottom base are very strong and rigid though the middle is still kind of squishy. Per usual I would not try to drink a hot beverage out of these as it would likely deform badly, but would be perfect for any kind of cold or room temperature beverages for a party, gathering or picnic, etc. I am very happy with these and I am so pleased to be able to get these instead of solo cups. I like these cups - they are sturdy, pleasant to drink from, look good (nice & clear), pretty good thickness and good medium size. Just ok price point for the size, quality & how many you get in this pack. I like that they are supposed to be better for the environment than regular plastic cups, but they are commercially compostable. They work great for any occasion or no occasion. I recommend.
