works on tartar deposits!

Okay, I'll start by saying I am a crazy 'dog mom' so just bear with me. I saw a social media ad for a bioelectric toothbrush and started reading around about the supposed benefits of this product. The one that was advertised to me was quite expensive, by the way. But I found this one on Amazon for a reasonable cost and decided to try it out. On my dogs. I ordered it 6/27 and received it a day or two later. I started brushing the dogs' teeth every night after supper. Since starting this routine, I noticed an improvement in their breath immediately. Within a few days, I was able to easily chip built-up tartar off their teeth with the edge of my thumb nail! Dogs aren't crazy about it but they tolerate it (because it doesn't buzz or taste bad), and I have been using a poultry-flavored dog toothpaste. Their teeth look great, as good or better than a professional vet cleaning (without the anesthesia and trauma!). I am sold. I wish I had taken 'before' pictures, there was quite a bit of buildup on some of the teeth and it came off easily! I have now ordered another one for me! LOL. editing to add: perhaps the Quality Control on these needs some work. The second toothbrush I purchased would have instances of NOT turning itself off after the correct time interval, and not being able to turn it off by pressing the power button. Sometimes turned itself on randomly as it was just sitting in the toothrbrush stand in the bathroom. Needless to say it wore down its battery with its random switch-on and staying on all night without being able to turn it off, so the second one I bought is no good. The first one is still doing great on my doggos teefers! Read more

short battery life

This was working well for 2 weeks and my teeth felt cleaner. Then the blue light wouldn't turn off and ran the battery down. The toothbrush is too expensive to only work 2 weeks and needs to have an off button. Would not recommend. They did refund my money since supposedly there was a bad battery problem that has been fixed. Since they claimed the battery getting drained was an issue that was fixed, I waited a couple of months and ordered another. Same problem - it worked a few weeks and then just stopped working. There's no batch number on the box so I can't tell if they are still selling the bad ones months later or if the the battery drain is a continuing problem. This toothbrush is an example of a great idea with poor execution. Order at your own risk. Read more

This Brush Doesn’t Buzz or Tingle. It Just Quietly Obliterates Biofilm.

Most of the negative reviews seem to be confused about how this toothbrush technology works. It's not supposed to vibrate. The blue light is only there so you can tell when it's on. How it actually works (short version): it uses electricity at a specific frequency to disrupt the biofilm building up in your mouth & a longer explanation if you're interested: — The problem — Biofilms contain electrically polarized polysaccharides and bacterial cells, making them susceptible to external electrical disruption that breaks down their structural integrity and metabolic processes. — The technology — Bioelectric toothbrushes like this one apply electrical signals (0.7V sinusoidal at 10MHz frequency with 0.7V DC offset) to disrupt bacterial biofilms through electrostatic force disruption, media electrolysis, enzyme inactivation, and altered electrolyte distribution. The AC/DC combination works synergistically - AC increases biofilm porosity while DC changes local pH conditions critical for bacterial metabolism. — The results — • Lab conditions (saline only): 215% better plaque removal at low pressure, 117% better at high pressure vs manual brushes • With toothpaste: 105% better at low pressure, 96% better at high pressure • Clinical trials: 1.75x greater reduction in gingival inflammation • Bacterial biomass reduction: 88.15% in vitro • 59% less gum bleeding (vs. no significant change with non-bioelectric toothbrushes) FDA-approved devices showed statistically significant reductions in plaque index and gingival index scores (p<0.05), with particular effectiveness in interproximal areas where bristles cannot reach. Bioelectric brushes without toothpaste achieved similar plaque removal to conventional brushes with toothpaste under high pressure. Sources: - PMC10695962 (reduced gum bleeding) - PMC11130244 (plaque reduction) - PMC3652371 (powered vs manual comparison) - PMC8394510 (microcurrent mechanisms) - PMC10604395 (biofilm quantification) My experience: I knew I had a severe oral biofilm problem. The data on bioelectric toothbrushes seemed promising, so I was excited to one. Not knowing what to expect, I assumed maybe I'd notice a difference after using it a few days. Compared with a Sonicare toothbrush, this one seemed understated, perhaps even underwhelming at first, because it doesn't vibrate, make any noise, or do anything that makes you *feel* like it's doing something special. You might expect "bioelectric" means it makes a tingly or zapping sensation, but even touching it is rather anticlimactic. If not for the blue light, you literally wouldn't know if it was on or off. This is why I was very surprised to feel immediate effects of toothbrush working. Specifically, during my first use, when I brushed the areas of my mouth with the most severe biofilm problems, I nearly vomited. The waves nausea were immediate and so severe I'm frankly amazed I managed not to throw up. To say this was surprising is an understatement. I know a this doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement, but I'm fairly confident that the toothbrush with no fanfare was, in fact, working. After a few minutes of brushing, the nausea was long-gone and my entire mouth felt the ridiculous level of clean that I had previously experienced only after a thorough, professional cleaning at the dentist. You get so used to your teeth feeling slimy that when the slime is gone, it's noticeable. The nausea only happened during the first use, and I've never heard of this happening to anyone else; all subsequent brushings were far less eventful but still achieved the "post-dentist-feeling" results. In short, yes, I highly recommend this toothbrush. I even texted several friends and family members to recommend it; my tales of a vomit-inducing toothbrush probably didn't do much to inspire their confidence, but the results speak for themselves. disposable brushes

I think the disposable brush is definitely the better value here, but out of the 3 I purchased, they are hit or miss. One lasted several months and is still going. Another never made it 2 weeks before it died. Do they work for plaque? No idea until I get to the dentist in 6 months. Read more

I love this toothbrush (the expensive rechargeable version, not the one-time-use version).

So, I bought the 3-month one-time use toothbrush as a trial. It worked very well for about 3 weeks (not 3 months) and then it died. I loved the way that it cleaned my teeth, so I bought the rechargeable version, despite the expense. I'm glad that I did. The rechargeable version holds its battery life for a long time and it works well. The bristles are soft and you do not have to scrub hard (or at all) to get the plaque and film off of your teeth. It's very gentle, compared to other toothbrushes. It takes the film off very well with minimal pressure, although the molars can be hard to reach and requires many passes over them. I use the opposite hand to get to hard to reach molars, and it's easy for me to do because all that I have to do is pretty much glide the toothbrush over them. I suggest buying the 3-month (more like 3-week) trial brush to see if you like the way the brush cleans your teeth, with very low expectations for battery life, and then invest in the rechargeable version if you like it. Or, skip the one-time-use version and go for the rechargeable version (I wish that I would have done this and saved the $18 + waste). Read more
