I didn't use this for a "spot" so much as a large area about 18" diameter on the mid-point of my stairs where feet and shoes had clearly rotated to come down the second part of the flight. The one thing I didn't realize is you need a lot of pressure to break the plastic holding the lever. Once done, I sprayed the area covering a larger section than the piece of concern. What I did discover after the first attempt was that I had not used enough foam in some parts, partly because I was a little hesitant to use too much. I could clearly see in some areas that the dirt was definitely lifted. Indeed when I used a damp cloth to wipe the area, it dirtied the cloth quickly so I knew it had done something. Second time, instead of doing the whole area at once, I worked on small areas one at a time until I had completely covered the concerning spot. That worked great. I have to be upfront, some months later I ended up shampooing the whole stair carpet and it came out lovely... because the area I had done showed up so clean I realized I now had to do the rest!!! None the less, I like this product for two reasons. Firstly the foam really does work better than just fluid sprays as you can see exactly where you're cleaning. Secondly the attached brush really helps to get into the pile and lifts the dirt deep down. Great product. Read more
First let me say, I LOVE this product and have used it several times. Problem with this order is when I suppress the button for the foam, I cannot do it. It takes a lot of strength to get it to come out. Was in middle of a project and finished my previous 2 cans and had to use new ones. Cans must be defective.
