I’ve never used a steam mop before but having back issues had me looking for an alternative to my O’Cedar spin mop which had me, even at 5’3” tall, hunched over with an aching back. I looked at dozens of steam mops and decided to go for an inexpensive model to see if I even liked how it performed. At $44 this is a basic, no frills mop. It comes with the unit and one mop pad, that’s it. Assembly was easy. Instructions are pretty clear, attach the mop pad (it Velcros on) fill the reservoir with water, plug in the unit, flip the power and the steam function buttons on and wait for the boiler to heat the water. When the boiler is initially heating it’s quite loud but once heated (about 30 seconds) it’s relatively quite, just the sound of the steam. The mop handle was the perfect height for my 5’3” frame, no hunching over, however taller people might have issues. The unit is lightweight and easily moved over my tile floors. While there is no temperature control the mop easily cleaned even stubborn stuck on spots (just place the mop head over the spot and let it sit for 5-10 seconds, again this is on tile floors, use caution on wood floors). We have a 2400 sq ft home, all tile and I had to refill the reservoir 4 times. Since we have hard water I used distilled. Reservoir holds about 1.5 cups. My only complaint is the stupidly short cord! Why?! I had to do geometric calculations to figure out the least amount of unplugging and plugging back in! It’s just dumb. At least I didn’t have to wait for the boiler to start again. The mop pad that came with my unit was not the thicker blue striped one shown in the pictures, it was very thin but it cleaned just fine. I just wish it were slightly wider so cleaning along baseboards and in corners were better. Pros: price, did a good job cleaning/ disinfecting the floor. Cons: ridiculously short cord, only one thin mop pad. Read more

Another rave worthy item!!! Works like a dream! Easy to use -light weight - affordable! My floors haven’t looked so good!! Hack: Add essential oils to the water for the fresh scent! Pros: Uses only water Holds enough water to do my house in one fill (about 500sq feet) Super easy Washable pad No chemicals needed Good quailty design Cons: Short cord The water reservoir doesn’t detach The pad it comes with isnt the best quailty (they sell replacements) Pet peeve: The cord doesn’t have a bottom cord clip- for a tidy teether Wish: It had the ability to detach to become a hand held steamer Overall: For the price, it’s effective, easy to use AND works well!!! Absolutely worth the buy, especially for those on a budget. Read more

The pad that is shown on the picture is not the same pad that comes with it. The pad seems so much thinner. Also the cord isn't long enough. No indicator light. It does mop really well and seems like a lot of steam power. You definitely get what you pay for. Read more

I bought the Black and Decker steam mop 9 months ago. Initially, I agreed with most of the concerns until I learned the problem usually was me and not the mop. For example, the electric cord to short. Yes, but then I learned to coordinate my mopping with the locations of my outlets. Now cord length is perfect! Even wrapping the electric cord after use turned out OK when I learned to secure the plug end at the top of the handle first, then looping the remaining cord around the hook a couple of times. No more problem. This mop doesn't last. My first mop broke (steamer) with two weeks of use. B & D replaced it. Now, I know to refill the tank before it goes dry. Conclusion: I think the B & D mop is the best value on the market for steam cleaning household floors! Read more

I was so excited to purchase this mop. After a few uses the stream would stop coming out during use. The mop also had a burning smell at times during use. The pad that comes with the mop leaves streaks on my floor even after washing the pad several times. Very disappointing with this purchase. Read more
