This is a beautiful 18-inch brass light, designed to light up artwork. It has a rotational basis of 250° up or down. Typically, you would place this above the painting you wish to highlight and rotate it downwards to illuminate the painting. The light extends about an inch and a half away from the wall. The light is supplied by two 2700K E-12 base candelabra lights. This type of lighting provides a warm glow to whatever artwork you intend to display. This brass fixture has a very high-end look, and it would be expected to see some very expensive artwork hanging underneath it. It is also because its brass is unlikely to rust for years. Insulate. Installation is easy. You should have a US standard junction box in the location where you wish to put this picture light. It should be secured against a stud and have wires installed with a 110V, 15-amp system. The very first thing you should do is go to the circuit breaker panel in your home and turn off the power to this particular circuit. Then, use a voltage tester to check the exposed wires in that circuit and ensure that none of them are energized. This is a crucial first safety step that could save your life. Next, ensure that the wire is coming from the light, which should be a black, white, and either bare copper wire or green grounding wire, or all of which have had their insulation removed to a depth of about half an inch. The same applies to the wires on the house side of the surface. This product comes with an installation plate. Take the installation plate and thread the house wires through it, centered in the hole in the installation plate. Next, install the two screws that are machine screws that will hold the light to the installation Plate. Next, install the two machine screws that secure the installation plate to the junction box by threading them between the installation plate and the junction box. After you’ve done this, take the wires that are now coming through the hole in the center of the install plate and connect them with good physical connections to the wires coming from the lighting fixture. You may need to support the fixture on a ladder or have another person hold it for you while you perform this task. Next, make a good physical connection of the black wire, the white wire, and the grounding wire to their respective wires coming from the home. The green wire is the grounding wire for the home. After you've made a good physical connection, the wires take the supplied wire lock nuts and twist them clockwise tightly around the connection. Make sure the wires are not loose. Are falling out now, push the wires back inside the junction box as you bring the fixture over the two screws that are protruding from the install plate, place them in the holes in the fixture cover, then put the fixture cover caps on those two screw screws to lock the fixture in place. Next, install the lightbulbs inside the fixture, adjust the fixture to the proper angle, turn the power back on, and you should be able to test your picture. It should work. Since this fixture does not come with a remote, it should be placed on a separate circuit with an on-off switch. Additionally, it is compatible with a dimmer. The supplied light bulbs will also work with a dimmer, ranging from 0% to 100% without any flicker whatsoever. Read more

Exceptionally well-made, sturdy (heavy), beautiful picture light. The wiring in it is solid, installation will be a breeze when I get a second to install it. As the wife of a general contractor who does most of the design bits for her husband's projects, I was impressed with the overall quality of this light. That being said, a few things for people who might not be as well-versed in installation, this would be a 5 minute install for someone swapping out a current picture light. But installing it as a new picture light placement will require additional wiring for a switch (dimmer switch highly recommended), so you are able to turn it on and off. It does not come with a remote, nor is it battery-operated. It needs to be hardwired into the wall, and a switch will need to be added somewhere, which will require additional wiring. I got this light in the black finish, which I think gives this particular light a more industrial look. I don't like brass fixtures in general, but if you're on the fence, consider your space. The black is modern, rustic, almost industrial looking due to the lines of the metal work. If that fits your decor, you will probably appreciate it. The bulbs may be a problem to replace when the time comes. Despite the candelabra base, you need the thin tube light to fit properly. It will be interesting to see how long the original bulbs last. Despite the included instructions, I wouldn't recommend you make this your first ever DIY installation if you have no experience with electrical fixtures. Be safe. I got this to replace the spotlight shaped light above a painting my mom has, it needs the wider spill of light, so this will work well. If you're worried about this being too big for lighting your object d'art, it really isn't as big as you might think. Read more

I hoped this light would be the one I needed for my artwork in the hallway, but it is not what I wanted. The sizing was smaller than I though, the quality did not seem up to par and having to hardwire it was more of a hassle then replacing batteries. Read more

I have this most precious painting that I truly always wanted to make focus point. I absolutely love this black vintage picture light. It provided the highlight I wanted. The lightening and control are great. It’s a nice size. It perfectly sits over the painting and it’s never looked better. Made well with design and craftsmanship it was easy to install. This wall light is gorgeous and the heavy brass is such a nice quality. It gives it a real classy, old gold look. You can adjust the angle about 90 degrees to better illumine art or a mirror at the proper angle. It also comes with the 2 bulbs it needs and some gloves to help protect during installation. On the pricier side but is a good value for what you get. It is hardwired so that needs to be taken into account for installation. Read more
