Works Great

ExaltixOctober 25, 2025

Installation was straightforward, and the sleek design of the camera doesn’t obstruct my view. The interface is user-friendly, making setup and navigation a breeze. It's also equipped with smart features that allow for automatic event recording, so I don't have to worry about manually saving important clips. In terms of storage, the dash cam handles video files efficiently with loop recording, and I appreciate the option to save footage to a microSD card. It’s nice to have the ability to review footage directly through the app, which adds a layer of convenience for accessing and managing recordings. Read more

Premium Dash Cam With Excellent Imaging—but Some EV Limitations

MSFebruary 15, 2026✓ Verified purchase

The BlackVue Elite 9-2CH delivers an impressive combination of functionality, build quality, and imaging performance. After extensive use, it clearly targets users who want top-tier front-and-rear coverage with reliable recording features—but it also has some limitations worth noting, especially for electric vehicle owners. Video Quality: The 4K front camera paired with the 2K HDR rear camera produces outstanding clarity, even in darker environments. License plates, road markings, and details at night are reliably captured. STARVIS 2 sensors do a great job controlling bright light sources and improving dynamic range. Ease of Installation: Basic installation is straightforward if using the included power adapter. However, to utilize the dashcam’s power-saving Parking Mode, a hardwiring installation is required. This is where things get more challenging—particularly for EVs. It’s not always clear which fuse or connection remains “always on” after locking the car versus which circuits shut down. For electric vehicles, identifying a proper permanent power source can require extra research or professional installation. Ease of Use: The app is responsive, Wi-Fi transfers are quick, and GPS tagging is accurate. Navigating recorded files is intuitive, and the overall workflow—from setup to exporting clips—is streamlined. Functionality: Power Saving Parking Mode is one of the strongest functional features, minimizing power draw while still recording triggered events. The dash cam also supports up to 1TB microSD storage, which is excellent for long recording intervals without overwriting. Critical Limitation (EV Owners Take Note): A notable drawback is the automated low-voltage shutdown. The dashcam powers off automatically when the 12V battery drops below a certain threshold. While this makes sense for gas vehicles, it’s counterproductive for EVs. Electric cars maintain their 12V system differently—they prevent full battery drain but still allow the voltage to dip below 11V, which triggers the dashcam to shutdown even though the car itself is not at risk. The manufacturer’s support team is aware of this behavior but currently doesn’t offer a workaround or firmware solution. Value for Money: The overall package—4K+2K HDR imaging, durable build, GPS, Wi-Fi, free hardwire kit, and included SD card—provides solid value for a premium dash cam. However, EV users may not get full functional benefit from Parking Mode due to the voltage cutoff limitation. Bottom Line: A high-performance dash cam with exceptional video quality and strong feature depth. For traditional vehicles, it offers reliable Parking Mode functionality and excellent imaging. For EV owners, it’s still a strong camera—but the low-voltage shutdown and hardwiring challenges reduce the practicality of its signature parking features. Read more

Cloud disconnects constantly!

DASNovember 28, 2025✓ Verified purchase

Camera never stays on the cloud using the Blackvue LTE module. You can reboot and it will log on, but then mysteriously logs off the cloud and only a reboot brings it back on. Customer service could not help and of course only said the canned update the firmware message. Having a 770x befor this that always stayed on the cloud, I put that one back in, updated the firmware to the latest 2.004 and that also is exhibiting the same issues now and broke my cloud connections. So it is a firmware issue i suppose, the problem is you cannot get any other firmware but the 2.000 versions on this cam. The 770x i can go back to the 1.0014 and h cloud and camera works just fine. If you want cloud, stay away till they figure this one out. Read more

Nice dash cam that offers 27/4 live view.

RichardAugust 17, 2025

The most important aspect of a dash cam is its video quality, which captures crisp images at 60 frames per second. Both cameras' wide angles allow for the visibility of cars in adjacent lanes. You can play the files on any program you choose because the video was recorded in MP4 format. Your phone receives a wifi connection via the included SD card, allowing the video files to be transferred. Each video file has a time and date stamp and can be seen in preview mode. The location and speed of the vehicle are recorded in the lower left corner of the video stream because the camera is equipped with GPS. Installing the front and rear cameras is simple. It did take a little bit for the adhesive pad on the primary camera base clip to set before the rather heavy camera was attached. Running the wires along the window frame was easy. Even though pressing the wires into the door and pillar trim took some effort, I was pleased with how well the included pry tool worked. In the end, the cables are only visible where they feed out to the cameras and at the power connection. Even though the main camera is fairly large and obvious once installed, it does not block the driver's field of vision when positioned across from the rearview mirror. The camera has superb controls. It has a touch screen and control buttons. The screen can be swiped to reveal shortcuts to many photos. The controls on the camera are excellent. It contains control buttons and a touch screen. Read more
