What I Like: 1. Plays Blu-ray and DVDs well. We have some very well used movies which this player runs with minimal freezing or glitching. Our other player would just freeze those movies. 2. The picture quality is good. What I Don't Like: 1. The labeling on the remote buttons is confusing. Some labels are below the buttons, some are on the buttons, and some are above. There seems to be no rhyme or reason. 2. You have to power on the Blu-ray player and wait for it to fully turn on before ejecting a movie that was left in it. 3. It conveniently has a timer displayed as the movie is playing, but at 59:59 it goes back to 0:00... In other words, it doesn't display hours played. 4. There's a slight humming from the player as it's playing a movie. It's not too loud, but if you're sitting next to it, it can be annoying. I rated it 4/5 stars bc I felt even though I only have two things I like and four that I don't, the things I don't like are minor and don't affect the playing of Blu-rays or DVDs... I've spent a few days with the LP-100, and I must say I'm quite disappointed. Why? Certain features are advertised, but are missing. First off, it is claimed that this deck can decode and playback HDCD CDs. FAIL. Second it's supposed to be region free for the playback of DVDs. FAIL. Third in the advertising for this deck, the SACD symbol appears. FAIL AGAIN. The remote, which receives plenty of complaints in other reviews, is not nearly as confusing to me, but it does take a little effort to operate the buttons. Which translates to: press the buttons with some force. Picture quality is O.K., nothing to write home about. This player is larger than my other BluRay DVD players, so not quite so compact as claimed. So what do I conclude? Spend your money on a well known player, and stay away from misleading brands, like this one.. In fact, I was going to give this at least 3 stars, but have decided to drop down to one star instead. My bad, perhaps, but I spent quite a bit of time mulling this purchase, and wished I had spent more time deciding. I'm seriously considering giving this away, and most likely will. Read more
