Love the hat got it for mowing the yard the fans puts out a lot of air when using the battery mode. A little extra breeze can make all the difference when out working in the garden in the heat. This hat does a pretty good job of getting some air moving around you. I'm not entirely sure how effective the solar panels are, they don't seem to work if the battery doesn't already have a good charge. Maybe they're just for trickle charging to help extend the battery life a little bit longer? I'm not really sure as they don't seem to do much. This hat is simple to use. However, it stopped working the second time I used it. I left it out in the sun just to make sure that it wasn't a user error. It was not. The battery must have a two second life span at fully charged. It fit well, seemed comfortable, but, without the fans, it is not worth it. Summers are hotter than they used to be and working outside I want more shade. The cooling fans are a good idea here, but they are heavy and pull the hat down to my ears. I think adding a sweat band inside might help me. The fans have three speed settings and blow reasonably well but only on battery. The photovoltaic cells can power the fans but only when they have direct sunlight on them - I turned away from the sun, back toward it, and the fans stopped. I bought this ridiculous-looking yet totally genius contraption for my son, who camps every July in Missouri and Kansas — otherwise known as the humid armpits of the Midwest. This thing is part hat, part portable fan system, part Mad Max cosplay. And it works. The built-in fans are solar-powered and USB-rechargeable, so he basically became the most envied, breezy-headed scout at camp. It’s got a wide brim that makes him look like a desert explorer, and the detachable neck flap and face covering are honestly great for sun protection — or looking like you're about to rob a stagecoach. The fans have three speeds, which he uses depending on how aggressively the Kansas sun is trying to melt his soul. And it stayed charged longer than expected — even in cloudy weather, it kept chugging. The media could not be loaded. I really did like this sun protection hat with dual fans, but there was one issue that was quite frustrating for me. Here are the things I liked. Before use, I put a full charge on the fans and it only took about 20 minutes, although I'm sure they already had some charge one them. However, because they are solar, I doubt it will ever take very long to charge them since they are also solar charged and with just one charge they are advertised to last 8-16 hours, probably dependent on what level of power you keep it on. I'll never find out because I won't be out in this heat for 8 hours 🤣 So I love the battery power. It did last me an hour on the highest level without any issue. I was mowing grass in 93 degree weather with 100% humidity and if you know, you know! Not much can help you "feel better." However, because I was sweating, this did provide quite a bit of cooling relief and allowed me to breath easier. There are 3 settings, low, medium, and high and I kept it on high the entire time. It was easy to put together as far as putting the fans into the holes and putting on the extra shade shields. That was definitely a bonus. One thing I found was that the face shield was big. It hung WAY down on my face and as you'll see in the video, I pull it up and tuck it to keep it up more around my nose so it's tighter than I want but it worked. Here was my big frustration. I was making a video and I had the hat on trying to turn the fans on. I was at 3 minutes and still couldn't get the fans turned on because the buttons were so small. Eventually I took it off, turned on the fans, then put the hat on, and this is the video you see is from me putting it on with the fans on. Maybe it is easy for other people but wasn't for me and it was REALLY frustrating. What if someone comes up to talk to me? I literally have to take off the hat to turn off the fans.
