A Must-Have Fishing Tool — Cuts Braid, Mono, and Fluoro Like Butter

I bring this little tool on every saltwater fishing trip now. Before this, I carried mini scissors and pliers with line cutters, but after using the SNIP, I stopped bringing all of that. This thing handles braid, mono, and fluorocarbon instantly — it cuts cleanly every time, even with heavier lines. One of the reasons I bought it was because I kept noticing that deckhands, mates, and veteran fishermen were using this exact cutter on the boats I fish on. Now I understand why. It clips right onto my belt, stays out of the way, and I barely notice it’s there until I need it. The spring-loaded retractable design makes it super fast to grab, use, and put back. It’s also one of those tools that makes a perfect Father’s Day gift or stocking stuffer. That’s actually how I got mine — my family gave it to me for Christmas, and I wish I had known about it sooner. After I got this fella, I bought the bigger version as well. I don’t even pack nail clippers or mini scissors anymore. This little cutter replaced all of them. If you fish at all — freshwater or saltwater — this is one of those small, inexpensive tools that makes your whole setup easier. Highly recommend. Read more

My opinion, I think EVERY fisherman needs this.

This is another one of them products on amazon that deserves one of my, hard to earn, 5-Star rating. I have purchased multiple pairs of these snips, and they work Great. Meaning, they cut through Braid and also cut the line around the hook using a Snell Knot. Although my experiences are from great lake fishing on 20lb. or less fishing line. So I cannot honestly comment on heavier applications, like Saltwater fishing. But it is a nice product to cut line, like butter. I accidentally purchased the "Cheater Snip" version last time. Thinking it was the same smaller pair as previous. But even that larger pair cut my 10lb. braided line nicely. Though the magnifying glass attachment was a little hard to use (too small of a lens plus the Angle of adjustment to zoom in clearly) made it difficult for its function. Nonetheless, this something every fisherman should have at their side, when fishing. PLUS, BONUS, if you're looking to get a fisherman in life, a great cheap gift, this would be it. I can practically guarantee they will love it. Okay, I may be getting a little overboard from my experience, I do like like product! Read more

Neat little tool

Neat little tool for cutting fishing line. It's also on a retractable cord with a clip which is really nice. It also can be closed, shown in the picture. Easy to use and a great price! Read more

Not bad but not great.

This is a lot bigger than I expected it to be, which is fine. However, it doesn't work as smoothly as I thought it would and it's a little awkward to use. It did cut my braided line but I had to pull it tight for it to cut. I was looking for something that will cut limp line. Because you won't always have enough line to pull it tight and cut it at the same time. I'm still going to give it a try but I can't give it 5 stars. Read more

Good clippers

I really wish the handle was a little thinner but not a deal breaker, however I've had no issues with these otherwise. They are sharp and cut well. I have even trimmed a fingernail and a pinch with them. They have no issues. Cutting braid which can be extremely frustrating with bad scissors or nail clippers. I think the price is a little bit high but not unreasonable. I've had no issues with rust. They're comfortable to hold, but sometimes the width can get in the way. I'm glad I bought the longer ones. It makes them easier to use. I think they could taper the plastic more towards the clippers and still leave room for the retractable wheel being wider. Either way, I don't think it would stop me from purchasing them unless they made a modified version. Read more
