I have tried at least 3 hair removal tools over the years and find most of them to be unreliable and rather cheap. I was most intrigued by this offering from Braun, which I consider a solid brand in offering quality products. While the overall results is a work-in-progress, this kit definitely provides a more complete approach to hair removal than any of the kits I’d previously used. WHAT YOU GET The Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) device is the workhorse of this kit and it measure 5 1/2” x 3” with a 8” circumference at its widest point. The tool has a large on/off “treatment” button on the top with a power indicator light around the button. The device has a cable that connects to an electric power supply. Also included are two separate hair trimmers, one for the face and one designed for private areas (with 5 different head attachments), a standard razor (and blade), cleaning brush, a small storage pouch for the trimmer with the multiple attachments, and a larger soft storage bag that holds everything. There are 3 instruction manuals for the IPS tool, and each of the trimmers. EASE OF USE The instruction manual is easy to read and very helpful in providing clear and useful information. This product is not suitable for certain skin/hair colors and other specified skin and health conditions. I like that it is stated the device has been through clinical trials that assures the safety and efficacy of the tool and posts the results … I like the transparency. The device is very easy to use, simply plug in and press the button. The light ring around the power button will show blue when starting. The light ring changes colors that dictate how the device will perform simply by identifying skin tone when the light end of the device is pressed on the skin: pink=high intensity (light skin tones), light pink=medium intensity (medium skin tones), white=low intensity (dark skin), and red=skin tones that are not compatible (the light device will not flash). When you get the pink/light pink/white light, keeping the end of the device pressed against the skin will eventually trigger the light effect that is part of the hair removal process. While the light pulse will generate a flash of heat on the skin, but it is a painless process. The level of noise is minimal, there is a slight sound when the light is activated, but the low hum of the device’s fan is the only real sound. I’m using this on a test area on my arm and what impresses me is how quickly you can treat an area. This alone is encouraging as the process of other devices is extremely laborious. It is going to take several weeks to determine the true efficacy, but everything I’ve experienced so far has me excited that this is a major step in the right direction. This is not a cheap product, but the overall quality of the components and the complete nature of this kit has me confident that this is a thoughtfully designed and comprehensive hair removal toolkit.
