About this item

  • ENHANCED PHOSPHATE ELIMINATION – Phosphat-E Phosphate Remover is a potent solution to assist in phosphate control in heavily-stocked aquaria. It provides a quick and precise solution to elevated phosphate concentrations while being safe for all inhabitants of reef and marine-fish-only aquaria
  • AQUARIUM PHOSPHATE REDUCTION – This marine water treatment eliminates reactive phosphate immediately, once added to the aquarium. It is powerful and highly efficient and can be used on an ongoing basis for the phosphate reduction process
  • QUALITY ASSURANCE – After treatment, phosphate test kits may show false positive readings as a result of the chemical mechanism of the kits, and the aquarium may become slightly cloudy when the product is first applied. This is normal and temporary and does not mean the product is not working
  • DIRECTIONS – Test aquarium phosphate concentration before initial use with an accurate kit. Add Phosphat-E near a mechanical filter or protein skimmer intake and administer at a maximum rate of 2.5 ml per 20 gallons daily. This removes 0.5 ppm of phosphate; 250 ml treats up to 4,000 US-gallons
  • AMERICAN-MADE EXCELLENCE – Brightwell Aquatics is an industry-leading brand committed to providing innovative and scientifically backed aquatic care products. Made in the USA, we consistently deliver advanced superior quality solutions to elevate the vibrancy and health of your aquarium

directionsAquarium may become slightly cloudy when product is first applied; cloudiness is temporary and will dissipate. Basic: Determine phosphate concentration in aquarium prior to first use by testing with an accurate test kit. Add product to aquarium near a mechanical filter or protein skimmer intake at the maximum rate of 5 ml (1 capful) per 20 US-gallons daily for each 1 ppm of phosphate present in system. When used in this fashion, 250 ml treats up to 1,000 US-gallons (3,785 L). Add weekly at same dosage to maintain an immeasurable reactive phosphate concentration. Advanced: Determine phosphate concentration in aquarium prior to first use by testing with an accurate test kit. Each ml of Brightwell Aquatics Phosphāt-E will eliminate 1 ppm of reactive (available) phosphate in 4 US-gallons (15.142 L) of water. The result is an inert particulate that is permanently removed from the aquarium via mechanical filtration and protein skimming. To maximize the rate of phosphate removal, Phosphāt-E should be added to the aquarium near the intake of a mechanical filter or protein skimmer. Doing so will enable the inert particulate phosphate compound to be effectively removed from the aquarium. Particulate material not removed by filtration will remain inert and the bound phosphate non-reactive indefinitely under normal aquarium conditions. The maximum dosage should not exceed 1 ml per 4 US-gallons (15.142 L) daily, as too rapid a decrease in the concentration of phosphate may irritate sensitive corals, particularly if the phosphate concentration has existed at a relatively-high level for an extended period of time (e.g. 3 - 6 weeks). The concentration of available phosphate in marine aquaria should not be allowed to exceed 0.05 ppm for any lengthy period of time; available phosphate in the presence of other substances can indirectly negatively impact the appearance of an otherwise beautiful marine aquarium. If corals or other invertebrates appear to react negatively to the addition of the product, it may be an indication that reactive phosphate is being removed too aggressively; decrease dosage by 50% and continue treatment until phosphate concentration appears to be immeasurable. Caution: Harmful if swallowed. May cause eye or skin irritation. If in eyes, flush with water for 15 minutes, get medical attention. If on skin, wash thoroughly with water. Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption.

Small bottle, big impact

I can’t stress enough how pleased I am with this product. Dosing is easy enough to understand and you don’t need to use much to get the job done. I like how it’s formulated to slowly reduce phosphate levels over a few days time, rather than cause a sudden drop and stress out the aquarium inhabitants. It will cause the water to get a little cloudy for a few hour but it does clear up. It’s a little expensive IMO but it definitely gets the job done. Just be sure to measure your dosage as accurately as possible to avoid pissing off your fish. Read more

Amazing Stuff

lunaFebruary 8, 2025✓ Verified purchase

I have a 300 gallon mixed reef and the phosphate level got away from me probably due to overfeeding. When I bought the Phosphat-E, the level tested with a Hanna Checker was 1.9 ppm. Having read so many excellent reviews and only a few negative ones, I felt that the overall product is good, but also decided to go slow just as the instructions state. It provides a maximum dose, but I saw absolutely no reason to take a chance since it saws its best to lower the phosphate level over 7-8 days. The simple math indicated a total (max) of 37.5 mls per day, but I started with 10 mls split into 3 doses, morning, midday and early evening. No negative results at all and the next day I couldn’t believe that some of the closed polyps were beginning to open back up. I increased the dose to 12 mls for the next 3 days and after 4 days, I tested and the level had dropped to .09. I again increased the dose to 16mls as the corals are looking so much better. The phosphate level at day 6 is now .06 and I am confident in following the “go slow” approach per the instructions. I should mention that I also cut down the feeding quantity and although fish will eat all day if you feed them, they are still happy. 😊 Overall great product, easy to use, and I highly recommend. Dosing instructions are confusing

drive-by criticNovember 24, 2020✓ Verified purchase

This stuff might be great, I can’t tell yet, but I have a real issue with the dosing instructions. First, I understand the dose is based on the amount of desired phosphate reduction in a given volume of water. I get that. But you have to do the math to figure out the correct dose. “Each ml eliminates 1ppm phosphate in 4 gallons of water.” Ok, I have 40 net gallons of water in my tank and I want to reduce my phosphate by 0.2ppm. What’s my dose? I have to do math to figure that out. I don’t want to do math. I want to read a chart that did the math for me. Nope. They don’t provide one, not even on the web page. Still, I can do the math to figure out my dose. 1 ml will remove 1 ppm in 4 gallons of water. So... 1 ml will remove 0.5 ppm in 8 gallons 1 ml will remove 0.25 ppm in 16 gallons 1 ml will remove 0.125 ppm in 32 gallons 1 capful (5 ml) will remove 0.6 ppm in 32 gallons. Here’s where my dosing goes south on me. The directions on the bottle also say 5 ml will remove 1ppm in 40 gallons of water. How can 5ml remove .6 ppm in 32 gallons and 1.0 ppm in 40 gallons? If only that had a, what’s it called, oh yeah, A CHART! ***two treatments later*** I still don’t like the instructions and all my earlier complaints about determining the correct amount of liquid to use but...the stuff worked. Like, totally worked. According to my API phosphate test my levels have gone from >1.0 ppm to unmeasurable. Nothing’s died in the tank and I’m happy with the outcome. Read more
