Substantial performance, solid equipment, very quiet.

Just what I wanted: very quiet, good power, easy to install (in our case). We were replacing a noisy one, wanted to avoid too much drywall removal and retention of existing venting. Fortunately were able to use the new unit's installation brackets spacing and found a reducer to connect to existing vent line. Grill fit our space with barely a 1/4" space to nearby wall. The spring-like metal grill connections needed a bit of bending to ensure close fit with ceiling - easy enough to do. Read more

Great product

The Broan-NuTone AE110 Invent Flex ENERGY STAR Qualified Single-Speed Ventilation Fan has truly made a difference in my home. This sleek white fan not only looks great in any bathroom, but it also performs exceptionally well. With a CFM rating of 110 and a sones rating of just 1.0, it efficiently removes excess moisture and odors, leaving my bathroom feeling fresh and clean. What sets this fan apart is its flexibility. It's easy to install and can be used in various locations throughout the house, not just in the bathroom. The energy-efficient design is a big plus, as it helps save on electricity bills while still delivering powerful ventilation. I've had other ventilation fans before, but the Broan-NuTone AE110 stands out for its performance and reliability. It operates quietly, so it doesn't disrupt the peace and quiet in my home. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with this product, and I highly recommend it to anyone in need of a reliable ventilation solution. Read more

Unpleasant to install, but works very well (and is quiet).

I installed this to replace our bathroom fan which was noisy and the cover had broken. After removing the old fan, I set to install this one. I had to cut out a larger hole (made easy by an oscillating tool), but it was a pain to install the unit inside the frame. I felt like I was bending the part you affix to the joist when putting the fan motor in. It took much longer than it should have. Now that it's in it's very quiet and seems to move the moisture out of the room. So I'm happy with the product, but if I had to install one again, I'd probably look to another brand for a better install process. Read more

Easy install and fairly quiet

This fan does not have brackets that are anchored into the ceiling joists and slide thru the housing. This housing is screwed directly to the joists which makes for an easier installation IMO. I was replacing a smaller fan do I needed to cut some sheetrock, but I was unable to position the housing where I could use the brackets at designed. I ended up bending one bracket 90 deg and screwing it to a joist. The other bracket is unattached to anything. I then put some screws thru the frame into the joists on two sides and it's very solid. The wiring is very straightforward, but they do not supply any wire nuts which is kind of annoying. I reused the nuts for the white and black wires, but the neutral had been connected to a screw in the previous housing, so I had to go dig up a wire nut to connect the ground. The fan pops in and out of the housing easily. I did have a heck of a time connecting my semi-rigid duct to the outlet. They are both exactly 4", so that ended up being the most aggravating part of the entire install. After I taped up the duct connection, I taped up the gaps between the sheetrock and the housing, installed the cover, and turned on the fan. It's not silent, but it's much quieter than the fan it replaced and not noticeable with any background noise at all. Pros: Easy installation - Screws directly to joists Easy fan removal/install into housing Fairly quiet Cost Cons: No wire nuts or any hardware at all (minor) Fan outlet is exactly 4" as the duct will be. 3.9 inches would have made a significant difference (minor) Read more

Good Fan

Installation was straightforward and although it is slightly louder than the old fan, I consider this a plus in muffling bathroom noises. Exhaust capability is good. The major downside to this fan is the process to install the grill, specifically the spring clips holding the grill to the fan/ceiling. This is a horrible design and makes attaching the grill an awkward and frustrating experience. There are 2 springs that hold the grill in place leaving 2 points of poor design and aggravation. The main issues are it's difficult to see both slots where you insert the springs into the housing but once you are able to get one or perhaps both springs into the housing slot, and just before you snug the grill to the ceiling, the opposite end of the springs pops out of its retainer located on the grill. I found no way to reinsert the spring back into the retainer without removing the spring from the housing and begin the process once again but it kept popping out of the plastic grill retainer several more times. To prevent the spring from popping out of the retainer, I epoxied a small thin piece of metal (old flashing I had) and after it dried, I was able to install the grill by eliminating only 50% of the frustration leaving the other 50% in fully place. Broan-NuTone could go a long way by redesigning this aspect of the unit. Read more

Worked for my application

I needed to install a vent fan where there was none and this was the fan I chose. It's about $40 more than the same Broan fan that is louder. This one is very quiet. I bought this based on the product description pictures, thinking this was one that could be installed without any studs to secure it to but it is not. The pictures of the product also show it has flanges on the metal box and mine they were folded up. I almost returned this for the above, but I was able to find a crossbeam above my shower to directly screw this into after making new holes and using stainless screws to secure it. I needed to use silicon to close the gaps around the hole I cut out also, which would have been much easier had there been flanges like the product pictures showed. Overall a good fan, but be very careful about the 'room side' description. You absolutely have to have a stud right flush above with the hole you have to secure this to or it will not work. No hanger bracket kit was included and is optional to purchase separate if you need it. Read more
