I purchased the Vantrue N5 as a replacement for my Vantrue N4, which failed after about three years. So far, the N5 has been a solid upgrade. Video quality across all four cameras is clear, and the Wi-Fi connectivity makes it easy to configure settings, view footage, and download videos directly to a phone. Built-in GPS is also included—unlike the N4, which required a separate GPS mount. I have the N5 connected to the original Vantrue hardwiring kit with collision detection enabled. It successfully captured an incident where someone entered my vehicle at night looking for valuables. The footage was stored in the regular incident folder instead of a dedicated one, which I found odd, though this may have been addressed in a firmware update. The fourth camera is a nice addition, but I’m not fully convinced it adds much value compared to the N4S, which has similar functionality without the extra channel. Parking Mode is excellent, and while the front camera does pick up some glare, this can be solved by purchasing the optional circular polarizer for sharper, glare-free video. I’ve been using the N5 for over a year in two vehicles, and overall it’s a reliable, feature-rich dashcam. While it is expensive, the performance and convenience are impressive. My only concern is long-term durability, given my experience with the N4. Read more
