Great for eczema

My daughter is almost 4 and easily gets eczema. This is the brand that doesn't break her out. We have used this since she was a baby. When I try to switch her, she breaks out. This has to be the best on her skin. It smells very clean. Read more

Great baby wash for sensitive skin!

Love this baby wash for my kids! It has a EWG rating of 1 so you can feel good about using it on your kids. I used to use California Baby Sensitive Baby Shampoo and Wash for my kids but one has bouts of eczema. I was looking for a wash that was just as gentle but more creamy and less drying for my kids. Burt's Bees fits the bill. It has a mild scent that is pleasant but not overpowering. I also use a little less soap than I did with the California Baby one as this one lathers up very well. I still end up using a separate conditioner but I'm ok with that - my kids have a lot of hair. The only minor gripe is that it doesn't come in a pump like California Baby (nice for doing one-handed pump action while using the other hand to prop the baby up). And it is of course on the pricier side of baby washes, but if you care about EWG ratings like I do, then you know it's worth it. It isn't organic but that's ok for me as long as the EWG rating is good. Read more

Least "stingy" body wash / shampoo I've found

Update 7/30/2018: I continue to use this shampoo / body wash, and love it, but it does (if I am showering without my contact lenses in) now sting a little - my guess is that the formula has changed slightly. As this product is now all over, every supermarket, every big box store, I should imagine they may have compromised and changed ingredients, due to the enormous volumes they need to produce. No issues with my skin, and the brief eyeball sensitivity is barely worth mentioning, but "not stinging at all" is no longer true. So I am lobbing off one star.. Update 7/23/2017: Up to five stars, this stuff works for me (and that is, where skin is concerned, always very personal). Itchiness is significantly reduced, none on the legs at all, amazingly, and the wash is concentrated enough that you don't need to use a lot, experiment with smaller amounts than you were used to using. I am well pleased. Original Review: Because of ongoing skin sensitivity that two doctors gave me different opinions on (wouldn't you know, the dermatologist's instructions did not work for sh...) I've been trying to eliminate all irritants, from artificial fibers in clothing and linen to unnecessary chemicals in cleaning agents, allergen- and fragrance free detergents, you name it. I've reduced the number of skin degreasing agents I use, as well, as I understand from the 'net skin oils have protective functions, and removing them completely every day may not be a good thing. At some point, I switched to Johnson's Baby Moisture Wash, Vanilla Oatmeal, 15 Ounce from the supermercado, but when I used that on the one day a week I do not have my extended wear contact lenses in, it stung in my eyes - reading the label, I noted that, despite its hypo-allergenic and no-tear formula, it contains fragrances. That's not good, so I've now switched to trying this Burt's Bees fragrance free *stuff*. So far, so good - it doesn't have fragrances, it smells (on my face as I lather) mostly of oatmeal, which is kinda weird but certainly not harmful, and indeed is the least degreasing formula I've used, the past couple of years, in my quest for less agressive stuff. Mine isn't a greasy skin, and with summer coming up we'll see how well it does, but if it doesn't sting my eyes, that's Job Done, and I would think that makes it safe for your baby's skin, too. I should add that a baby is growing, and its skin regenerates a lot faster than yours or mine does - remember there is A LOT more skin on you than on your baby. Your metabolism has to work a lot harder to keep it all in good order than a baby's, don't believe the marketeers, babies don't spend hours a day enveloped in Diesel particulate and hydrocarbons, with artificial fibers rubbing all over 'em (I hope!?). I just can't think of any reason, now that I've been forced to think about it, why anybody would use anything on their skin and delicate bits that is capable of stinging. Stinging is a warning signal when your nerve endings find the chemicals harmful. Lathering, BTW, is one of those things that has no real function, and lathering agents that do nothing but foam are often added to washes and shampoos - that's why your hypo-allergenic detergent, if you use the right amount in your machine, barely foams, because those sudsing agents aren't there and That Is A Good Thing. So don't use the Johnson & Johnson baby stuff on your baby, IMHO, and for now, this Burt's Bee's wash seems just what the doctor ordered and I find that a little of this goes a long way, no need to slather it on. I'll update this as I go along, I've got three bottles to get through, if no update, I am fragrance free, happy, and, errm, "unstung" ;) Read more

Nice, gentle clean

Very nice, gentle shampoo and body wash. Cleans without stripping hair and body oils. I don't live the lacendar scent and will probably choose a different scent next time, but it's not overbearing. Read more

Safe for eczema and dermatitis

I have perioral dermatitis and also get little hives/rashes from any chemical/fragrance in products. This actually cleans my hair well, no greasiness or residue left at all and doesn’t give me any reactions Read more
