Works perfectly! My wife bought a new gorgeous entertainment center but it has no glass doors or any other way to send an IR signal from the remote to the device when the doors are closed. This little product hooks up in seconds and does the trick! I have the receiver portion of this just barely peeking out from the corner of my center channel speaker that sits on top of the entertainment stand. The cord runs down the length of the speaker and behind the stand down into the stand where it points right at my AV receiver and my 4k player. One thing to note: this is not a programmable type device. It picks up ANY IR signal from ANY remote and transmits that signal to the other end. I did not realize this before I purchased this and actually ordered two of them thinking I’d need one for the AV receiver and one for my 4k player as they’re in the same cubby of the entertainment stand but on different shelves. Not so. Once I realized this I positioned the broadcast portion of the device on the inside of the door of the stand so that it can broadcast the remote’s signal to either device, depending on what remote I’m using. Ultimately I returned the unused second device and just kept the one. I sit about 12’ or so from the receiving end of the device and have had no issues whatsoever sending a signal to the device from my couch. This just arrived and hooked up easily. My Denon receiver is behind a cabinet door and I often need to change the sound mode (from typical Dolby Surround) for TV sports sound or for Spotify music, which requires using the Denon receiver remote. (I can adjust receiver volume using the TV remote via the CEC / HDMI connection.) Opening the door to change the sound mode is a pain, and is visually undesirable. This gadget works so well, as I can now change the receiver sound mode with the Denon receiver remote. It works 30+ ft. away (may vary for different remotes?) and at a moderate aim angle as well. It took 5 minutes to set up, if that. I do anticipate that I may have to replace the 2-sided tape on the IR receiver and transmitter blobs. I got the "6 ft." model and found that the leads are longer than expected, so it was pretty flexible to connect the USB to a nearby power strip and then mount the IR receiver and transmitter blobs where needed. I just estimated where the Denon receiver IR eye was and mounted the IR transmitter blob inside the door, opposite that area, quite approximately. I'm not sure what the IR transmitter's broadcast angle might be. A blue LED blinks on the IR receiver when activated, so you know you have triggered a change. Seems to work pretty well for my Xbox. I also like that the receiver on this device flashes a blue LED so you know it is picking up a signal when you push a button. My Xbox is in a place that is hard to get a bead on with the TV style remote I got for it, and this product seems to help with that. I stuck the transmitter on a small 1” corner bracket so I could put the transmitter of this device right in front of the receiver on the Xbox. If anyone is also in this situation, the IR receiver on an Xbox series X is built right into the controller pairing button oddly enough. Read more

works as advertised. The only thing i don't like is that whatever remote i point in its direction it flashes. Even my space heater remote makes it flash blue. Also the tape they put on the back is not the strongest. Wire long enough to wire things across my 63" cabinet. Read more

Perfect solution for adding a tv frame to my LG OLED TV. The frame covered the IR receciver which prevented volume control and power on/off. I placed the cable transmitter on the picture frame next to the tv's receiver. The cable receiver I placed on the sound bar. Solved all issues! Read more

Works great. My TV IR receiver is blocked by a sound bar. Plugged this in, pointed the new transmitter toward the TV IR receiver, placed the new IR receiver in an inconspicuous open space. Now my remote works perfectly. Couldn’t be happier with this little IR repeater/extender. Read more

While advertised for home theater setups, this device is useful for anyone struggling with their TV remote not working correctly from different positions. My issue was that my JBL soundbar blocked the IR sensor on my Hisense TV,(The IR sensor is located at the front of the tv and receives your remote commands.) Because of this, I had to hold the remote overhead and aim it at the TV to get it to work. The CableMatters IR Extender Cable solved this problem perfectly. I simply plugged one end into the TV’s USB port, attached the extender’s IR sender to the back of my soundbar using the adhesive sticker, aligning it with the TV’s IR sensor, and then positioned the IR receiver from the extender in front of the soundbar. Suddenly, the remote worked from any position in the room without needing to aim it directly at the TV.
