This costume is great I am very pleased. It is for my sons drama play.I originally ordered one from Party City so i could return to store if needed. The material was terrible and was to small.THIS ONE however has really nice, thicker material and a more authentic looking costume,.My son is about 6' and 185 lbs. or so wears a 38'' waist, although some of the reviews said ' runs big ' i got the LG.Now the jacket is a little big on the longer side but does fit well ,,the pants fit good on butt and legs but they will need to be hemmed.I got the large because of the vest,if the vest was any smaller it would be to short. All in all yes it is a costume and does look as such but for the price it is fabulous.I may even make my husband wear it for halloween.2 THUMBS UP !! I purchased 12-Matching Costumes for a Bachelor Party Weekend. 6-Med, 5-Large, 1-XL. We had a variety of sizes within the party, so let me break it down for you. MATERIAL: Thin material, but better than expected. (We had to wear shorts underneath the pants since they were see through) PANTS AND JACKET: All of the Pants and jacket fit somewhat Large, not overly large, but Just enough where you MIGHT need a belt to hold the pants up, (No Drawstring). VESTS: As far as the vests, They fit really well (Well enough for us to mob the dinner cruise, clubs, and casinos with vests only) Except for the XL, the vest was too small. Overall, it was a huge hit, and especially with 12 matching costumes, It was definitely memorable for everyone. (Normally, I never review, but I was looking last minute for costumes, and wished someone had group perspective and photos) Read more

COSTUME IS GOOD FOR WHAT IT GOING TO BE USED FOR BUT THE TOP IS KIND OF SMALL FOR A LARGE AND THE BOTTOM IS HUGE FOR A LARGE.. THEYRE SUPER BIG BELL BETTOMS AND THE ELSATIC ON THE WAIST SEEMED A BIT STRETCHED OUT. FOR THE WAY THIS CAME I SHOULDNT HAVE PAID WHAT I PAID FOR IT I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN IT FOR AT LEAST 15 BUCKS CHEAPER. OTHER THAN THAT DOWNSIDE IT IS A GREAT COSTUME AND GOT TONS OF LAUGHS WITH IT ON. Great for a disco party but it’s made for a tall guy. My husband is 5’10” and I still had to raise the hem so he didn’t step on it. Coat is a bit look but would look good on someone taller than 5’10”. Comfort was good but material was thin. Read more

Like most of these pre-packaged costumes you can't expect much. Especially for paying less than $40. This one is no exception. I knew I wasn't really going to receive a legit suit made with quality material but this is a pretty poor execution even with cheap materials. The short review is it's way too big and you will not look nearly as cool as the dude in the picture is leading you to believe. Be prepared to make alterations and suck up the fact that this shortcut to a good idea won't payoff as you'd hoped. Here's the longer review... While you're thinking polyster is ok because yep that's what they wore in the 70's, the material used here is very light, drapey, and doesn't hold form. Just the wrong materials for this costume. The pants resemble light weight sweat pants or pajama bottoms your girlfriend would lounge around the house in. It has an elastic waistband, so obviously no zipper. No pockets. The bell bottoms flair out much wider than seems in the picture. The vest/shirt is a bit of a shame. The black collar is sewn to the vest for the illusion that you are wearing a big 70's collared black shirt underneath. Because the material is flimsy, the collar turns up too easily revealing the true nature of the "shirt". With the sewn in collar, you lose the possibility of sporting a real 70's shirt underneath instead without butchering the vest. And because the vest/shirt has no sleeves, you're looking pretty ridiculous if you want to ditch the jacket to boogie down on the dance floor. Of course you could tell people you are a chipendale dancer instead. The buttons on the vest are not functional. The suit jacket is made of the same flowy drapy material as the pants. It just looks sloppy. No pockets. It does button. Ok, here's what would have been most helpful to me prior to purchase - that is fit... I bought the small. If you're anywhere close to my size - 5'7" 140ish - good luck. It is going to be super baggy and you will need to take everything in. I took some actual measurements that might be helpful to decide if it's close for you to even try... Waistband is 30" unstretched. I'm more like 29" and it was fine. Inseam is 32" which is the problem. Seems like a reasonable length with my 31" inseam but the crotch hangs low from the waistband riding a good 3" below effectively making it a 35" length inseam. With 3.5" platforms you are still mopping the floor with the bell bottoms that are 26" wide. If you are a size 9 or under you will not see your shoes. Suit and Vest will be big unless you are true 40" chest. Suit is about 18" wide shoulder to shoulder or 44" around with a 31" torso length. Arm length is 24" from end of shoulder. For sure if you are a 38" chest or less with a slim torso like me you will be swimming in it. As others have mentioned, it will serve it's purpose if clowning around for one night but if you go to a 70's disco party and want to really look the part this is not what you want. Make the effort and go shop for authentic pieces at the thrifty store instead. Finally, if buying from 7th Avenue be aware of their short 3 day policy. I was out of town when I received my delivery and by the time I got home it was already outside their window for exchange/returns. Read more

This costume won my husband first prize in a disco costume contest!!! (He has a naturally hairy chest so perfect for his costume). He wore it with a large gold (plastic) DISCO medallion necklace, it sort of needs that to look finished. The jacket is surprisingly good quality. It is long enough that if you leave it on, you don't have to worry about what some reviews say about the pants being see through. We had no problem with that. My husband is 5'9" or 10". I cut off about 3" from the bottom of the pants since he didn't want to wear platform shoes. The fabric is fine with a raw edge, it doesn't fray. The costume instruction for all 3 pieces say "spot clean only, no water or dry cleaning". Too bad! It looks like it could handle a gentle washing and is polyester so I don't understand what the problem with washing it is. I think I am going to try it anyways. The pants have elastic in the back. The only issue is the suit has zero pockets anywhere on it. How dumb is that?! So men, expect to stash your keys, etc. in your date's purse. Read more
