My 5 year old has gone through so may water bottles because she chews the silicon mouthpiece to shreds, so this water bottle is perfect for her! We haven't had any leakage problems, but you have to be sure whoever is using it can properly close it back up. The spout requires the user to push and twist to create a tight seal. I think if she was any younger, we would have had a lot of leakage problems. I taught her how and had her practice a couple times and has been golden ever since. These are hard for my kids to open and when they try to screw them closed they don't close all the way. They can be a leaky mess.
