Good Price for a Solid Rack

The CAP Barbell Olympic Plate Rack is a quality piece of equipment and it arrived generally well packaged. There was a flake of paint chipped off the apex, and I notice another reviewer was concerned about this. But I expect to see a lot more chipping and scratching of this rack as I use it over the years, so from a practical perspective, it's not an issue. At 25 pounds (most of it bottom-loaded because, you know, it's a triangle with feet), it has some heft. So the rack is solid and sturdy--a lot sturdier than I might have expected from the ad images. It does not wobble or vibrate in the least. Assembly was easy: just four bolts. While the welds are not the cleanest I've ever seen, they seem solid. As you can tell from the photos, the iron weights I use fit on the rack without any overlap. On the side with two pegs, I have my 45 lbs and a couple of my 25 lbs. On the other side, I keep 2.5, 5, and 10 lb weights. As set up in the photos, it's holding 240 lbs. I'm confident it can hold quite a bit more. There is a gap of at least a couple of fingers-width between all of the racked plates. I would not recommend this rack for bumper plates because they would overlap. But if you read the description in the ad, they point this out. The price was right and for an economy choice, this might be the best plate rack on Amazon. I'm very happy with my purchase. Read more

We got this CAP rack to hold our CAP Olympic plate weights (5s, 10s, 25s and 45s). The price is right and it's sturdy and well-made and fits the CAP plates perfectly. No problems. All it took to set it up was putting two leg brackets on with four bolts. Of all the things we've had to assemble, this has to be one of the quickest and simplest. Use your wrench because it doesn't cinch down by hand and real tools make all assembly jobs easiest. We keep finding ourselves coming back to the CAP weightlifting products and they have never let us down. We don't have other plates from other lines on the rack so we can't speak to the fit on those. Also, we aren't storing any single weights over the 2-45s but it's holding a pretty good accumulative amount of weight. We are very happy with this plate rack and so glad to have the plates off the floor. This is much more practical and safer. The price was one of the lowest we found, if not the lowest. Read more

It’s sturdier than I expected when I first put it together so that was a pleasant surprise. My only knock is it doesn’t fit as many plates as I thought it would but I’m still happy about the purchase. Read more

Excellent

I just built a home gym. Got this weight rack to keep everything organized and easier to lift off a rack than the floor! I have 45 and 35s on one side, 25s and 10s on the other side and 5 and 2.5s in the middle. I have a total of 352.5 pounds on this. It holds them extremely well and i have confidence in the sturdiness of the product Very easy to put together. You only have to attack the bottom supports. The screws, nuts and washers are included. Only 4 of each. You do need to use your own wrench tho. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. Fantastic price too Read more

I don't write reviews almost never but i saw it useful helping somebody, I am doing gym for 20 years and i can say that this rack is just amazing for the value. Is well made and solid, and saves a lot of space in your home gym. Is very easy to assemble don't listen other comments from lazy people. It takes no more then 10-15 min max. Works perfect and can feet any pair of plates 45 35 25 10 5 2.5 If you have a lot of 45 plates or more than 2 pairs its better going with a floor rack or any other one bigger. I strongly recommend to everybody having a gym in the home like me, it saves a lot of space, and is very solid and well made. This is the best option no way, Thank you Read more

Definitely recommend

Very sturdy and was easy to put together. A little wiggle and patience is all you need for the two pegs on the top. It was very simple and easy. Other then that it's the perfect size for the area I needed it to be in to hold some weights instead of leaving them on the floor. I definitely recommend Read more

Has some fit issues but cheap enough to buy 2.

If you intend for this rack to hold standard iron plates which vary in diameter, then it's a great rack, especially for the price, and I'd have rated it 4-5 stars. You could probably fit 2-3 plates per peg for 25-45# plates. However, if you intend it to hold Olympic style bumper plates, there are several issues. 1) There isn't enough space between the pegs to hold bumper plates on the top peg AS WELL as the bottom. Since rubber bumper plates are all the same diameter (17.5") there will be overlap. I had to drill new holes about 1.25" below the bottom hole. Luckily there was some allowance for me to do this. A few pointers: it is absolutely necessary to drill the holes centered on the frame, otherwise the bolt will not be able to reach the the peg. Also, you'll need a pretty wide drill bit. 2) The top holes for the peg bolts are difficult to screw in, unless you have a very short hex key. You can put one in fairly easy, but the second takes some fiddling since the spacing gets tighter after the first bolt is installed. I read some reviews for this rack in the white color and they all say the same thing. Some people leave the second bolt loose, but I was able to screw it in tight, as I should since it'll be holding up to 90#. 3) The pegs themselves are pretty short. If you have Hi-Temp style bumper plates, the kind that are recycled rubber, you might only be able to fit one 45# plate per peg. I have the colored competition style Olympic plates which are thinner, and I can barely stack one blue 45# (20kg) plus a yellow 35# (15kg), or a 55 and 25. Still giving this rack 3-stars since some of the problems can be worked around, and it's so cheap that I'll just buy another one to hold the remainder of my plates. Read more
