High quality, exactly what I needed to get some workouts in when I can’t make it to the gym. If you’re considering these dumb bells, just buy them. Read more
Contacted support about one of my missing plates and they responded and shipped out a new plate rather quickly. It is a great price for the weight you get. If you don't mind taking some time manually adjusting the weight then these are the perfect budget friendly dumbells A couple things I will mention but does not affect my opnion: Packaging came in messed up but it is somewhat expected giving the weight and I would open these outside or somewhere easy to clean due to the small debris. The quality isn't super high but their heavy and stay in place mostly. The paint has been chipping since day 1 and is sharp so beware, the grips pretty rough is really rough but very grippy, and the weights will loosen throughout the workout. All problems but nothing catastrophic. I notice these weights feel way heavier then the weights at planet fitness with the bar weight in mind do their heavy lol overall worth the money :) Read more
This adjustable dumbbell set is really convenient and solid for home workouts. It’s easy to change the weights, and the plates feel sturdy. I like that I can adjust it depending on the exercise instead of needing a bunch of different dumbbells. Great option if you’re building a home gym without taking up too much space. Read more
These dumbbells might be what you're looking for if you're starting a home gym and don't have the space and money for static weight dumbbells or high-end adjustable dumbbells. However, there are some pros and cons that come along with the product so allow me to walk you through my experience. Pros: The knurling is good, nothing special, gets the job done. These work with and without chalk as well as with straps. If you're used to a regular barbell with knurling, it's pretty similar. They're super cheap. Let's be real, you're considering these because of the $1-$1.20 per pound price point. They save space vs. static weight dumbbells. They take up the space of give or take 2 dumbbells. When they're not loaded heavy, you have to find somewhere to store the extra weight plates, which can be a hassle, but it's manageable. The weights weight relatively true. I was surprised to see that these weights are fairly accurate, and the inaccuracies tend towards heavy. I liked this. CAP Barbell has good customer service. One of the dumbbells had an issue and I had it replaced in a few days. Definitely don't hold your tongue if something is wrong with these. Cons: Something was wrong with mine initially. One of the collars wouldn't stay on and I deduced it to be due to the bar itself. They sent a replacement promptly - see customer service pro above. The quality of the coating is sub-par. It will flake off a bit especially when you first get them, and some of the plates may need a 'de-burring' to get rid of sharp edges. Dumbbell Bench Press and similar movements will be difficult with these because the bars dig into your legs pretty bad. I recommend getting a pair of tennis balls and cutting a small X in each one, slotting them over the end you'll use as the bottom. However, when loaded to capacity, this may not work as well. They take a surprisingly long time to load and unload. This is a hassle, and is one of the biggest cons vs. static weight dumbbells. You may spend a couple minutes messing around with little 2.5 and 5 lb plates and the spin locks, which can take away from your workout. Overall: 3/5 These dumbbells serve me decently well, I love using them for dumbbell flies, lateral raises, romanian deadlifts, dumbbell rows, and several other movements. However, their drawbacks make the price point fair - not better. Read more
Package arrived with one of two packages burst open and retaped. All weights but one in the two packages, with one of the 1.25 pound weights missing. It would be way too much trouble to repackage and return over this, but I want other potential buyers to be aware. Other than the missing weight they are really nice quality, beefy bars, easy to grip and secure screw-on weight retainers. I like them, but wish I had the missing weight for days when I want to increase by just a little bit. Read more
My younger son had ordered this set earlier in the year and really likes lifting with these. So we decided to get our older son a set for Christmas. When the set arrived it was missing the bars and collars. It was right before Christmas (December 22nd) so I wasn't sure what luck I would have contacting the company. I filled out the form on their site and within 24 hours I had a response. They quickly packaged and sent us the bars and collars. We received them on the 27th which we thought was great. Very trust worthy company!!!! Read more
