I think this is the perfect exercise mat. It is a good two to three inches thick and really cushions you while you are exercising. I got this because I moved into an apartment with hardwood floors and I absolutely need protection from how firm that surface is to exercise on. This mat functions perfectly to provide me with a stable surface that is soft enough to keep me from the pain of exercising on a hardwood floor. The mat has proven to be extremely durable. It does not deform over time. It is still in the same great shape it was when I got it. You can easily fold it up and move it to another place so it is not in the way. I bought this to do Physical Therapy on the floor after having a pinched sciatic nerve in L4 and L5. I started off doing my PT on the bed but that did not offer a firm enough resistance that I really needed. This mat is easy to store, easy to unfold and fold up, and is covered with an excellent quality of soft durable vinyl. The padding itself is high density, offering soft comfort and firmness. I tip the scales at about 280, and when I'm working out on this mat I barely depressed a quarter of an inch into this mat. Perfect quality and style. I bought a very big one for a play yard for a baby/toddler, but switched to a pack n play bed instead. I still use this mat, because I needed it behind the crib, next to the wood ramp railing, so he won't hurt his head when he falls backwards. This is perfect because it's obviously very padded, useful for when he gets older, and extremely easy to keep clean. PRO TIP: I purchased a 48 inch Lifetime Adjustable Table, and 10 Ft Dark Green Umbrella Canopy, to store the Mats under the table, along with a small plastic shelf toys outside.
