Good material

Andrea OlsonOctober 20, 2025✓ Verified purchase

I was actually impressed with how durable the material feels, it's thick but not too thick to be stiff. It's also soft enough and stretchy for bending at the waist and the knees. I ordered the XL in black, and it looks great, and fits amazing. It is not see through at all, like this is an actual work pant/legging and is definitely worth the price. Read more

Look good while doing hard work

ElizaJune 11, 2019✓ Verified purchase

I work in the wildlife field, and quite a few of my friends have raved about these leggings. Finally decided I would give them a shot, especially when they went on sale. I bought these and the Force Lightweight Utility Legging. Before even purchasing them, sizing was tough. A lot of folks say to size down slightly as these run large. I'm 6'0", 150lbs, and normally wear around a 6 long in jeans, but with leggings I'm generally either a medium or a large. I ended up going with a Small Long in these, which just didn't seem right because I do not consider myself "small". But that's what I determined through the size guides, reviews, and finding my True Fit Size on Carhartt's listing on their website (I recommend checking that out if you aren't certain!). Initial reaction was that they were a bit tight, but goodness did I look awesome in them. The toughest part for me was getting the waistband over my hips- I have wide hips, but once I wedge them over they fit better. After doing some manual labor in them, I just fell more and more in love with them. A medium tall may be a good option if I didn't want them to be as tight, but they probably wouldn't fit how I'd like them to. Compared to the Force Lightweight Utility Legging, I slightly like that one more in terms of fit. It's lighter and not as tight. I think the Utility Knit will be for my more dirty work, while the Lightweight leggings will be more going out into town and doing less strenuous activities. For folks who wanna look good while they work, and have leggings that are built to last and have crazy great pockets, I recommend buying both the Force Utility Knit and the Force Ligthweight Utility leggings. Just find the right size for you, and you won't be disappointed. Read more

Durable

AmberDecember 14, 2025✓ Verified purchase

These are durable, easy to work in, have a lot of different pockets, and warm. The one thing I don’t like is that the top of the pants are tight and a tad uncomfortable, if I would have sized up one size they would’ve been way to big Read more

Perfect for outdoor adventure

MeganDecember 12, 2020✓ Verified purchase

I LOVE these britches. They’re perfect for hiking, riding horses, riding 4wheelers, any sort of outdoor work or activity. I have worn them muddling 3x and gone through major mud holes and water where I expected to be freezing and feel wet. Water seemed to roll off of them well. They’re not 100% water proof of course, but a decent water resistant, durable pant. I love the pockets! There are several! I love that even in 40degree weather riding in water and mud I didn’t feel wet or cold for majority of the ride. They are a sturdy, durable material that briars and limbs didn’t seem to penetrate in any major way. When I did catch a briar, it didn’t scratch my skin; only caught the pants and then was gone. There have been no snags or holes thus far either. I’ve also shook the dry mud off and thrown them back on for a later ride and they were already dry. I love them. The one thing I am glad I read prior to purchasing is many said they were big on them. I’m a size 6 and 38 inch hips. I ordered a small. They are comfy in my waist all day long, but they can take a little tugging to get over my hips. If I had ordered a medium theyd have been way too big in the waist, as well as in the thighs and calves. Even though I ordered a small thinking they’d fit snugly like a legging, they are still a little roomier in the legs than I’d prefer. I wear socks over the ankle and up my calf and boots and I hate having to fold, tuck, twist my pants into my sock and boot. I prob could have gotten an XS for that type of fit I wanted, but might need an extra set of hands to get them over these hips. Lol I will he ordering another pair and trying out the XS soon just to see. Small is a Great fit for girls with more junk in their trunk and bigger quads and calves than I but similar waist and hip circumference! Read more

Mismatched pocket most noticeable in Black

solaraMarch 16, 2023✓ Verified purchase

I HATE the mismatched patch pockets! I know the idea to make the patch pockets out of a different colored material were a design choice... but it's a BAD one IMO. They might be cute on a skinny-mini, but on larger full-sized adults, the darker patch pockets draw the eye to my wider backside and hips... which I don't need in skintight leggings. Thankfully the odd patch pockets are not as noticeable in the other colors. I purchased the Black, Navy, and Coffee Brown. On the Black... the slightly darker patch pockets are most noticeable and just look weird... subtle enough in broad daylight to look like a mistake. According to the listing images, the Coffee Brown & Navy also used darker fabric for the patch pockets, but in real life it's either not the case or they are less noticeable. I wanted Black. And the truth is I don't really like either of the alternate colors and debating which to keep, if either. The Coffee Brown is not quite olive drab, and not quite dark brown. In between the two is an unflattering color. If it were more olive or darker it would be better. The Navy Blue is a little too vibrant and not dark enough. Would be better if it was more Marine Blue (greener tone) or darker Navy Blue (closer to black). It's frustrating because colors-aside, these are great pants! I'm 5'11 and wear 12/14... more 14 right now. The XL Tall are perfect. The legs are long enough for my 32" inseam. The rise is tall enough to not slide down when I bend over or sit. The front pockets are deep enough to actually put hands in. I can carry a pair of gloves in the back. My phone fits in the side tool pocket on the side. They're thick and sturdy enough for between-season yard work, winter hiking, and horseback riding. Dear Carhartt—please make a black pair using the same material for the legs and pockets. Read more
