It will keep you warm.........

Great build quality. I use it as a cover when sitting on the couch. If the power ever goes out, I am well-prepared....!!!! I bought one several months ago and liked it so much, I recently bought a second one for my wife. My wife wants to sue the company that produces these sleeping bags because once she is covered by it on the couch, she falls into a blissful sleep that lasts longer than she intended........LOL. Although we have not used them outside, I am a big camper and feel that they would be great in a tent or whatever........ Read more

very good value

These bags appear to be well made in regards to construction, when you consider the price they are an excellent value. I would not consider these to be comfort rated to -40 even with a good pad, would they keep you from freezing to death? Most likely. You have to understand that if you want a rated -40 below summit or extreme weather bag, your going to go for down and your going to pay hundreds for a single bag and still need a pad. These bags are heavy and they do not compact to a small size. They are ideal for either car camping, or perhaps an Alaskan bug out bag, should the necessity arise. Yes you could stuff one in a large backpack with gear (tent etc) and go for it, and yeah if your a strong individual probably not that bad in regards to weight. I am impressed with the quality, and I purchased these more for emergency use than regular packing. I live in Alaska and we get -20 spells here (Homer), at times in storms the elec goes down, which means my Toyo stove goes down too. God forbid we have an earthquake or some such that puts our family in peril, ergo these bags. For this purpose they will be great. If you can find (2) heavy duty winter well constructed and designed bags delivered for $200.00 better than these I'd like to hear about it soon, I'll be purchasing (4) more of these in short order. Really, you cant go wrong with these bags. I'd like to recognize the seller CampingMaxx for the family approach to customer service. Read more

Item could be better, no issue with seller or shipping

I bought this item when priced at $170 ($85 a piece). Good value there. I am about 5'8", 150lbs and i fit in there nicely. I spent the winter in them and some nights i was cold but almost every night i wasn't. When i came to my tent i may have been very cold but as soon as i got in the bag i started warming right up, such a nice feeling. One of the issues i have is how small it is, sometimes i wanted to curl into a ball but was unable to do so, as closely as i wanted, but instead had to bunch it up between my stomach and my knees to get into fetal position. Sometimes we like to lay on the front side of our lower body with one leg up and the upper body turned to the side, that position is impossible in the bag. When it was time to wash it i took it to the laundry mat and spent nearly $20 washing and drying it, although i may not have needed to dry it but rather let it dry in the sun. It had to be washed twice since it was too big and the largest public machines weren't big enough nor did they get all of it wet the first time. I know enough about sewing that i would make my own, and although i have had no rips (only many zipper catches which is an annoyance) i'd sew a rectangle bag with zipper using a stronger nylon shield, one large enough i could sprawl out in, then use the same fine-strand filler and use a cotton sheet as a liner, attached via snap-buttons. In that way i could have saved tens on dollars and be more comfortable, but considering i needed it ASAP as winter was just starting these saved my life. My girlfriend and i spent a few nights together and we zipped them together with no problem and of course there was plenty of room. WASHING = 2* ROOMY = 4* COMFORT = 4* WARMTH FACTOR = 5* I cannot recollect at the coldest it had been, but i survived well enough. Regarding the warmth factor, coming out of winter when the days are hot and nights are warm, when i would think i could sleep outside of the bag but then it got too cold, i did not over-heat when i half-awakened, got into the bag and slept the rest of the night. And finally, something to note it advertising. I forget where i read that it is tested for -40º but the test is conducted is in a controlled room, it was stated. For all i know someone got in the room then immediately into the bag, waited 30 minutes and said they felt fine and then got out. We simply do not have the specific facts that we, as consumers, should know. Other than that i recommend this sleeping bag for it's durability, weather ability, and of course price, but you could probably make your own even better and cheaper than ANY on the market. Give it a go! Read more

Good space and quality

At 5'10 this bag is a little big with extra space for sure, but it was 26 Fahrenheit at night and I had it 1/3 unzipped and it kept me warm. Good zipper and I would recommend this for purchasing and if you are tall it would definitely work. Read more

Easy to Use and Good Size

I previously bought one of these and decided to come back for one more, in case I might have use for a spare. The fit is great, and I'm able to use the sleeping bag easily. It has bulk, but that probably just means it contains a lot of the heat-retaining material. I initially bought one of these to use a long time ago, in a community that was suffering from unusual extreme cold weather events. The bag did keep me toasty warm in the 50 degree (Fahrenheit) temperature of my house, a big deal for someone not used to such freezing weather. I can't say for certain what would've happened in lower temperature, but from the looks of the sleeping bag, I estimate it probably would've been my lifesaver if the power grid had a prolonged failure allowing my house to fall into the 30-40 degree Fahrenheit range. Nice bag for the price!

My summer bag is a women's bag and a bit wider at the hips. This one is a bit tighter than I'm used to, but I'm sure I'll get used to. Very warm. I haven't tested it in negative degrees yet, but I believe it can get be comfortable in more extreme conditions. Pretty bulky, but I'm not intending on using this for backpacking type camping. Overall good bag! Read more

Excellent bag. I survived in 5F without a thermal barrier under me in a tarp shelter using this bag. Read more

A well-made serious product

This bag is just what I wanted. It is very well made and equally comfortable. I slept in it in and a windy 20°F without zipping it up, and I was very comfortable! It's an excellent value as well. I lived decades in arctic and subarctic Alaska, and am excited to use it on extended winter outings in the Koyukon Region. I recommend it to any serious outdoor person as well as to casual mild-weather campers. A+ Read more
