Perfect for velvet nails - okay for other cat eye effects
The Plman Cat Eye Nail Magnet is great for achieving the velvet nail effect that covers the entire nail. The plastic enclosure contains a couple of good magnets on each side and a large finger shaped divot in which to rest your fingers after painting. The plastic has a texture similar to 3D printed material in case you prefer a more luxurious feeling device. I will say it’s nicer than the super strong horseshoe magnets that some are using. I experimented with this by painting five fingernails in Mooncat’s traditional nail polish in magnetic shades that I’m familiar with and was impressed at how easily I could get a full velvet nail. However, I find that with traditional polish, the velvet demagnetizes easily and that a line-style cat eye lasts longer. Unfortunately, I found it difficult to achieve the line effect that I can do easily with other bar style neodymium magnets. This is not an issue for gel type polish since it sets and cures much more quickly. If you’re using this with gel polish, you’re all set! In either case, do be sure to magnetize the polish again after a top coat is applied. Long story short, this would recommend this for the velvet effect only rather than a traditional line style cat eye effect unless you’re using gel polish. It’s a great value if you want velvet nails and a comfortable place to rest your fingers while your polish cures. Read more
