This cereal tastes great! It isn't too sugary sweet, but has just enough sweetness to lift my mood. The little apple pieces have a surprising tang and a real apple taste, which helps balance the overall flavor. The squares are a little denser (or thicker) than I expected, but it's still an overall nutritious cereal to snack on or eat first thing in the morning with milk. The quality of this cereal feels high-quality and tastes more natural than other cereals I've had. Especially with the additional protein content. It doesn't get soggy in milk at all and stays crunchy all throughout. But my only complaint is that the bag is so small! For the price, I wish I could get more than just two bowls out of one bag! I'm a big fan of Catalina Crunch trail mix and have enjoyed several cereal flavors, so I gave the apple turnover one a try. It includes bits of freeze-dried apple that add a nice tart-sweet pop and extra crunch, though the ratio of apple pieces is fairly low. Pea protein isn't my top choice, but it's fine. I usually skip corn flour and sunflower oil due to their pro-inflammatory nature, but compared to regular cereal loaded with sugar, preservatives, and artificial junk, this is a clear upgrade. There's a mild aftertaste when snacking straight from the bag, but it's barely noticeable with milk (I use unsweetened coconut) or yogurt. The standout is the serious crunch. It stays firm in liquid way longer than most cereals. Overall, it's great as a cereal or yogurt topping, but not ideal for straight snacking. Solid choice if you're looking for a low-sugar, crunchy alternative while getting in your protein. The price is more expensive than conventional cereal but that's to be expected of almost any healthier product unfortunately. Read more

I tried the Catalina Crunch Apple Turnover protein cereal for breakfast and it exceeded my expectations. The texture is crunchy and satisfying, and the apple turnover flavor is noticeable without being overly sweet. I especially liked that it has 10 grams of protein per serving and no added sugar, so it feels like a more thoughtful choice than typical kids’ cereals. My son absolutely loves this cereal. He asks for it regularly at breakfast and even snacks on it straight from the bag. Most cereals either leave him bored or overly hyped on sugar, but he genuinely enjoys the taste and I feel good about serving it to him. It holds up well with milk without getting soggy too fast, which makes the morning routine easier since neither of us has to rush finishing the bowl. It also being gluten free is a big plus for us since we try to avoid gluten where we can without sacrificing flavor. Overall, this product delivers on both taste and nutrition, and my son’s enthusiasm makes it clear this is one we’ll be buying again. Read more

It became a daily affair for me to calculate how much protein I ate that day, and not liking meat so much I have to add some more grams of protein while avoiding high calories offerings which are everywhere now, from cafeterias to supermarkets. I was looking for a snack which can be eaten as a cereal, but also between meals when I get hungry. I tried this apple turnover and loved it. No sugar (some Stevia, and monk fruit), but still sweet so I can take a handful, crunch down and feel full. The list of ingredients is absolutely great. Lots of fiber, not just protein. My main worry was the taste. Would I like it? Would it leave after taste? And the answers are Yes and No. I like the taste, texture, and crunch, and there is no after taste left in one’s mouth after a handful of half a cup with nonfat milk. A great item to keep around at work!!! Read more

To me, this cereal smelled much better than it tasted. The taste was good right at first but after a few chews started to taste more like "rabbit food" to me. There was a generous amount of freeze dried apple bits, which was nice, but the cinnamon flavor was not there for me and it was more of a memory of cinnamon than even a hint of it. I measured a serving to the gram for my photo and it is a very small serving. Took no more than a minute to eat it, so it's great if you're in a hurry to get out the door. The cereal is VERY crunchy, like it was coated with Clark Griswald's non-nutritive cereal varnish, ha ha. So if you hate soggy cereal you will totally love this. It's gluten free, non GMO, and safe for diabetics which is all great. The ingredient list is pretty healthy, though I'm not a fan of guar gum. There were no issues with the quality of this cereal but the price, IMO, is rather outrageous at nearly $18 a pound. For that price I can buy a dozen eggs, a 24 oz package of bacon, a loaf of keto bread and a package of sliced cheese and make ten breakfast sandwiches. But if you're craving a carb-y cereal without the carbs this could definitely help with that. Read more

Really crunchy, holds up with milk. Has an aftertaste, can't pinpoint it, but I think it's from the Stevia sweetener. A little pricey. Definitely not enough dried apples in it. Great dietary alternative if you want to be gluten free, non GMO, minimal sugar and get a good protein hit. Read more
