Oversized, Super heavy duty. NOT for low ceilings, Supports hangs 2 FEET below ceiling

Honest Reviews by Victor L. GoodmanNovember 20, 2025

Review of HWOOUSA brand - Ceiling Mounted Pull Up Bar, Heavy Duty 700 LBS Multi Grip Pull Up Bars. WOW. That was my first thought when O opened up the box. HEAVY DUTY to the extreme. This pull up bar is beyond heavy duty. Just lifting up the bars to install on my ceiling felt like exercise that left my arms tired. There's absolutely no question about the high quality of this product. The issue with this product is the 2 supports that come hang down off the ceiling to connect to the pull up bar are long and cannot adjust their length. The supports are solid pieces of steel and do not collapse (not telescopic). The only way to adjust the height of your pull-up bar is to mount the bar to a higher screw point. But this does not change the actual length of the supports. My ceiling is low - only 7½ft. These supports are long. The supports measure exactly 24" inches long. They are permanently installed into the ceiling and cannot fold up when not in use. That means you have 2 solid steel supports always hanging 2ft down from the ceiling. With my ceiling height of 7.5 ft, that only gives me 5½ft of clearance under them. Anyone over 5'5" (65" inches) tall WILL bump their heads into them. Even if you have a taller 8ft high ceiling, these will only give you 6ft of clearance. So, with the issue of these supports hanging so low off my ceiling and the supports not being telescopic, they provide a constant, low hanging danger. The only solution I was able to come up with is to mount them right by my door frame. The pull-up bar is even longer than the two supports. I'm not sure why it's so long. It's more than DOUBLE the length of a standard pull up a bar. In fact all three of my kids can hang off the bar at the SAME time. The pull up bar measures 47" inches across. 4 FEET LONG. 4ft PULL UP BAR: The Quality of the pull-up bar is excellent. It is welded fully along the brackets (pic3). The included mounting hardware is just as over engineered and robust. The mounting screws are just as massive and strong (pic4). FINAL THOUGHTS: Everything about this pull up bar is oversized and heavy duty. The low ceiling is not any fault of this product. Just beware that this will not be ideal for places with low ceilings like mine. You'll want to have at least 8 ft or more so that you can walk under this without worrying about bumping your head. It is unfortunate that the pull up bar supports are not telescopic and cannot become shorter to accommodate lower ceilings. You have four positions to mount the pull-up bar for different heights thanks to the pre-drilled holes. For some this 4 ft wide pull-up bar might be overkill. Regardless, you're definitely getting the value that you paid for and I'd recommend this product. Read more

Ceiling mounted pull up bar

CustomerDecember 9, 2025

This is a large, heavy duty pull up bar that adds a lot of flexibility to my home gym. It's 48" wide so there's plenty of room for my pull up assist bands as well as space and hooks for resistance bands and a punching at the ends. I never would have considered getting a punching bag, but because the hook is there and I wouldn't have to get some other hanging apparatus, I might get one after all. I have 8 foot ceilings and the vertical posts are 2 foot long. I can adjust the pull up bar to 4 different heights along the vertical posts (or 3? I forget) and I have it at the highest position, so it's about the perfect height for pull ups for me. I do kinda wish there was the option to get 1 foot vertical posts instead of 2 foot, though, it would give me to option to put it where I had 7 foot ceilings, or the basement. Installing was easy enough, though I'd never installed anything on the ceiling (beyond light fixtures). The hardest part for me was figuring out how to find joists to use. Youtube was helpful for that, as I couldn't use a stud finder on my popcorn ceilings. The pullup bar itself is a comfortable thickness with good grip, though I'll add something more comfortable for long term use. For a serious home gym owner, this is a solid, heavy duty addition with lots of usefulness. Read more

Super heavy duty for a pull up bar

M KennaNovember 26, 2025

I love this thing. It is made from really sturdy metal pieces with good thickness and is easy to assemble. The biggest task will be to find studs or ceiling joists that you can hang this on. The length is good but if you are wanting to do moves like muscle up, I suggest you install this upside down on a platform. If you install this on the ceiling, you will not be able to do muscle ups. It is really rigid once assembled and installed so you do not feel any bend and is fairly slip resistant. I would wrap with fabric grip wrap if you want to keep it extra non-slippery. This functions as described. Read more
