It is a very nice outfit and at a great price!

P. M.February 2, 2026

The pants arrived quickly and packaged in a small thick plastic container that zipped like a child’s purse. That being said, the container does offer decent protection during shipping. I was really worried that these were going to be a child’s costume after seeing them packed in this bag. Once I removed them from the package, I was very pleasantly surprised. I ordered the black pair and they are a nice true black color. The fabric is a fairly thin, but a tight weave of cotton / polyester blend. For me, the fabric is perfect. I much prefer the lighter fabric to a heavier fabric, as I typically wear period costumes in the warmer months. The fabric is thick enough and the weave tight enough that it is opaque, that is, not see through at all. The legs tie at the bottom with a cotton lace that does come with the pants and it is also true black. You do have to lace them yourself, but the lace is a good length. Although the pants are certainly modern made, with sewing machine stitches and perfectly round buttons and grommets, they do have a nice look of a period pair of pants. The seams in the fabric are tiny and do not show up unless you look really closely, at least on the black fabric. There is elastic in the waste and the buttons are modern but don’t look too out of place. There is also a drawstring at the waist band but it is on the inside of the pants, so hidden. There is also a seam just below the knee where the lacing starts. This does feel a little weird putting them on, but does add to the look. These also have pockets that are roomy and well fitted. Overall, they are certainly not truly authentic, but they have the look and will pass for all but the most critical onlookers. I am 5’10 and typically wear either a 36- or 38-inch waist and 32-inch inseam. I ordered the X-large pair and these fit me very well. With the elastic waist band and drawstring, these easily fit my waist. I typically have issues with any slim fitting pants fitting my thighs, but these fit me easily. The butt is also roomy without being baggy. The leg length fits well too. I was very pleased with the overall fit of these. The product page sizing charts seems right; if anything, the pants seem a little roomier than the sizes, but not overly so. Overall, these are very well done for inexpensive period pants. Yes, they are not handstitched and do utilize modern materials, but they still look of the period and things are hidden well. (Again, this review is for the black pants which uses black thread that blends in so well it is practically invisible. Not sure if other color pants will do the same.) The fabric is a light weight but durable, tight-weave cotton blend and won’t get overly hot. The style looks nice and will fit in nicely for a nice pirate costume or renaissance outfit. It is a very nice outfit and at a great price! I have paid much more for much less quality. Read more

Ready for the rum

Dean DJanuary 27, 2026

These medieval style navigator pants in black are exactly what I needed for my outfit since the local Ren Faire opens this weekend. You can tell there is great craftsmanship in the sturdy cotton poly blend and the high quality material gives that rugged viking look without being itchy. The value for money is top notch and I love the functionality of the drawstring combined with the elastic back because it makes the sizing very forgiving if you have a big lunch at the festival. My X-Large fits perfectly and the banded ankles look great with my boots. The only real downside is that the material attracts lint like crazy so keep a roller handy if you have pets. I also noticed the metal buttons are a little loose so I might put a quick stitch on them just to be safe. Read more

The Ultimate Renaissance Essential

WhiskeyNJ1January 25, 2026

If you are looking to elevate your historical kit without breaking the bank, the Century Star Pirate Pants are an absolute treasure. Finding the right balance between "costume" and "clothing" can be tricky, but these pants nail it. From the moment you pull them on, the quality is evident; the fabric has a substantial, authentic weight to it that feels far more premium than your standard polyester party-store fare. The texture is soft against the skin but durable enough to survive a full day of trekking through a muddy Ren Faire or dancing at a Halloween bash. The design details really set these apart for any period-accurate look. The ankle-banded cuffs provide that classic tapered silhouette that looks fantastic tucked into boots or worn with simple leather flats. Whether you’re channeling a rugged Viking, a high-seas Navigator, or a humble Colonial villager, the drape of the fabric creates a natural, lived-in aesthetic. They offer plenty of room for movement, which is a huge plus if you’re planning on any swordplay—or just hitting the buffet line. What’s most impressive, however, is the unbeatable value. Usually, high-quality medieval garb comes with a "custom-made" price tag, but these offer a professional look at a great price. They wash well, hold their shape, and the elastic/drawstring combo ensures they stay comfortable from the opening cannon to the final tavern toast. If you need a versatile, reliable staple for your costume trunk, these are a "must-buy" for your next adventure. Read more

You could wear these every day

TorchLitFebruary 16, 2026

I like that these pirate pants feel like linen pants. They are not made of that costume-material that is shiny, fragile, and fake looking. These look like they could be actual, every day wear. The material is thin, and you may not get a lot of use out of them, but they are comparable to some pants intended for regular wear. The fit on these is great, and it is somewhat flexible with elastic in the waist plus a drawstring. The fly is buttons only, and looses ones at that, so the extra security is good. You do need to lace the grommets on the legs yourself, but they look really cool once they are done. In fact, I got these pants for my teenage son who is experimenting with fashion to wear as regular pants. They are breathable, nice for warm climates. At the current price, they are also a good value for pants that are much higher quality in look and feel that typical costume pants. Read more
