Much more impressive & beautiful then the online pictures depict! First thing I noticed when this jewelry box arrived, it was packed & secured like Fort Knox!! Packing was super cushioned, wrapped well & perfectly stable. Second, I received it in one day as stated. The most important surprise is the jewelry box itself, which exceeded my expectations. The paint on the hardwood is done very well to make it look more like a fine wood. I opted for the dark wood, with 4 drawers providing ample area for several jewelry pieces. The doors have neat hook & slots to hang necklaces & earrings. The drawers & doors are lined in a felt covering. A mirror covers the entire inside of the lid. The charming top of the lid is adorned by a carved out hardwood flower design adding a stunning look to this box & the final rich look is the gold key with hanging tassel that locks draws & doors. I bought this as a last minute 16th Birthday gift for my granddaughter to hide an "extra special" birthday necklace in one of the drawers for her to find!!! I only write reviews on items if they are really good or really bad. This one is good and inspires me to post a review. Since i do some carpentry, i am critical of most wooden items, especially when they are a mass produced item from another country. I looked at a LOT of jewelry boxes, read reviews etc and picked this one. No regrets. I paid $99 for this box because i didnt want to take the time to make one, and I couldn’t be happier with this box. First, the wood is actually nice. It’s a pretty, lightly stained, oak looking grain. I chose the “cherry” color and the wood is not cherry wood, nor the color of it, but i do like the color that it is. Anyway, the carving on top is nice. Another reason why i chose this box, is i would not likely take the time to carve one for myself. It is surprisingly well made, no rough spots, corners are all tight and clean, hinges work perfectly, drawers slide smoothly. The dividers in the drawers are well placed. My only criticism, but same with most jewelry boxes, they just aren’t made for necklaces. Yes, on the right side door, there are hooks for them, but they are really better suited for holding bracelets, which works well for me as i have that full of soft bracelets, cuffs etc, go in a drawer. Unless you buy a much bigger box, necklaces just dont work well in a jewelry box (unless you only have a few small ones (not the case w me). I love the color of the inside, kind of a light sage green. Again, the lining is well done on all compartments. This box is NOT handmade, but has a look of one, I really do love it and would definitely buy it again. Read more
