* CHICINGYOU 2 Winter Balaclava Ski Masks for Men Women Helmet Liner Full Face Covering * I got these masks to wear when outside taking my furball for walk, not for skiing, motorcycle riding, etc. The fleece material is soft, breathable and provides adequate cold protection for my face. It is very easy to put on and take off. I also wear a fur-lined ball cap and a hoodie, so the rest of my head is already well covered. I'm unsure what degree of functionality it would have when wearing it inside a helmet. I think the material is on the thinner side when compared to other balaclavas, but so is the price. These are really great for wearing with a helmet!! I was surprised by how well they fit my head right out of the package, they are snug to keep the heat in but not tight or uncomfortable. The little slits for glasses are a really standout feature for me. You can run your glasses through and still have the front edge of the baclava fully flush against your face, which makes a big difference for warmth and wind resistance particularly if skiing,biking, anything with wind coming at you from the front. The lower portion that covers the neck and lower face is a thicker fleece and exactly what I expected. Warm, soft, and effective in cold weather. That section does most of the insulating. The upper portion is a muchthinner material, but it still helps partially with the snug fit. It only makes sense if you’re wearing a helmet. It adds warmth without adding bulk where you don’t want it. These are a great choice if you’re wearing a helmet or something similar. (That’s clearly the use case it’s built around) If you’re not wearing anything over your head, there would be warmer options that would make more sense, but that’s just an observation about the design, no criticism.
